Hello,
Dex doesn't start - when I click the shortcut or the exe in the folder (with administrator rights, Windows Vista, I've also tried other compatibility-modes) nothing at all happens. There is no process in the task manager. I also tried it with deactivated virus detection but to no avail.

Does anyboy know what I could do?
Thanks

EDIT: I have to correct myself: If I start the exe and look at the task manager, the process "Dex.exe *32" appears for a fraction of a second, then disappears and nothing happens...

Could you send us a Support ticket with your DxDiag as well as the Unity output_log.txt for Dex attached?

Please visit this link: https://www.gog.com/support/contact/technical_issues_with_games/dex and select "launching issues" as the problem type :)

I had the same issue; with the DEX executable failing to launch and only seen briefly in task-manager.

This solved it for me:
https://www.gog.com/forum/divinity_series/divinity_original_sin_enhanced_edition_crashing_at_launch_startup

It was the overlay from MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner causing the crashes - setting the RivaTuner "app detection level" to "None" on the DEX.exe allows the game to launch.

Hello,

If this issue is still alive for you, perhaps this will help you.

The game seems to use DirectX 11 by default. For me, it is the origin of the issue.
My game crash very quickly when it tries to create a graphic device context.

As the gamecard mentions DirectX 9 for minimal spec, I tried to make the game use DX9.

I discovered that when you delete (or rename) two files, DEX defaults to DirectX 9 and works like a charm, for me (same behavior for GamepadConfigTool.exe).

Within the game's directory, rename or delete these two files: "d3d11.dll" and "dxgi.dll"

Hope that this will help you.
I confirm that the solution above is perfect. The game now works like a charm! Thanks again, ggzx12!

Thanks! I can now play the game.
