As title. I'm using a Logitech controller , Mint 17.3. Controller works fine in other games, including Freedom Planet and Shovel Knight. So it's not the controller itself, or the USB port. Dex simply refuses to detect it, either in the included Config program or in the in-game options screen.

*Edit 1* I rebooted my system, leaving the controller hooked up. Still refuses to detect it. Dex does work, but I am not playing any platformer with a keyboard/mouse. I'm also not buying another controller just for 1 game.

Does your controller have a switch where you can switch from DirectInput mode to XInput mode?
There is a Mode switch which changes it from the analog stick to the directional pad, but that's it. It also doesn't respond in Dex, even though (again) it works fine in other games or emulators.

I did search out the Dex forums, and apparently the lack of competent controller support is an issue with this game.
Have you tried x360ce? and if so have you also tried using?
• xinput1_4.dll
• xinput1_3.dll
• xinput1_2.dll
• xinput1_1.dll
• xinput9_1_0.dll
If so, then that sucks as the developer dropped the ball on this one.

I'm having issues as well as my usual controller is detected but not all buttons and axes do something, for example the L1 button (in PS terms) isn't detected at all, R1 seems to be detected as "directional - right" but fortunately it doesn't conflict with the actual right directional, or the right analogue stick works only horizontally.

I've also tried playing with a PS3 controller but also with it some buttons aren't detected, i.e. L and R 2 (which are analogue triggers to be honest)
x360ce works. just rename xinput1_3.dll it creates to xinput1_4.dll
aka replace 3 with a 4
