This is the first GoG game that hasn't worked for me. I've tried various compatability modes, going back to Windows 95, but no luck. The game crashes on startup, before any game screens are even loaded. If I run it in safe mode, I get as far as the initial menu (which shows in windowed mode, even though it should be full screen), but then the game hangs .. cursor won't move and no response to keyboard inputs.

Anyone know what might get it going? My machine is an I5 2500K with AMD 6850 graphics.

OK, progress! I found a post related to Kentie's Launcher (http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/#downloads). I got it, and it appears to work. At least, the game loads and I can start a new game.

What error messages were you getting before you tried Kentie's launcher? If it turns out your problem is a common problem, I'll update the sticky.
I got the Steam version and it ran fine on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (I'm playing through it now actaully). Funny thing is, I got the whole series (With all Deus Ex: Human Revolution DLC) in a sale for the price of the one game on GOG.com, I think they need to lower the prices on this site a bit.

No error messages at all. On normal mode, the game just died immediately on launch -- nothing visable. On safe mode, the load got as far as the initial menu (in a window), but then hung up, refusing to accept keyboard or cursor inputs and requiring task manager to terminate.

After installing Kentie's launcher, however, the game has run flawlessly. And it's a GREAT game, btw.
I also have the same problem on Win 7 Ultimate x64 :/ Can anyone help?

Have you tried Deus Exe?

Note that for this to work you also need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and DirectX End-User Runtimes.
If you can get it running, you're lucky.
My disc copy gets a cyclic redundancy check error.

It's a sad life I live.

Don't those usually indicate damage to the disc?

Yes, even though I've kept it safe and happy in it's case.

Thats all very well. But the GOG version doesnt have that nasty DRM known as "Steam.."

I know what I'd rather spend my money on, even if it is a few more bucks..
