auroraparadox: Since this is my first time playing Deus Ex. I plan on only installing Deus Ex v2.0, New Vision, and the Project HDTP/Project HDTP beta releases.

Is there anything else I should consider installing for a first time play through?
I'm actually curious if you got this to work. From digging around and looking it seems that HDTPBeta modifies the DeusEx.u. It doesn't seem like it should work in conjunction with 2.0, right?

So far I haven't encountered any problems. All the HDTP beta files go in the folder created by the HDTP Release 1 installer. The readme file details where everything goes.

Deus Ex 2.0 was the last thing I installed.

I'll post if I encounter any problems.

EDIT: I'm not that far in the game. Currently I'm attempting to recover what the NSF took during their raid.

boct1584: )08_NYC_Street.dx from the original retail release of Deus Ex; the GOTY version of this map doesn't play the BGM for some reason, which is disappointing because it's one of the best tracks in the game. Shifter also fixes this error (without modifying the map,) so if you use Shifter, you don't need this.
This would go in the Deus Ex/Maps directory right?

Correct. You might want to back up the original version of the map just in case.

If I recall correctly, HDTP makes a carbon copy of DeusEx.u for its' own launcher. I don't remember how you get it working with other mods, but Kentie's launcher will work, or there are directions in the readme for Shifter.

Yeah, I think Shifter is the exception though. If you look at the moddb page you can see Yuki's last update talks about making Shifter compatible with HDTPBeta. Also, posts like the following:

http://www.offtopicproductions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=109293#p109293

seem to imply that even getting HDTP release #1 to work with DeusEx.u adjusting mods takes some work. I'm obviously new to this, but that seems to imply that since 2.0 doesn't specifically advertise HDTP compatibility (like Renovation or Shifter or Shifter's derivatives) then it isn't. And also that only Shifter (or it's derivatives?) is compatible with HDTPBeta at this time.

So I didn't actually install the 2.0 fixes if I put them in place last?

I'm not sure on that. Try checking the version of Deus Ex indicated by the system menu (when you hit Escape.)

The version number shows as 1.112FM

Okay then.

If you're using Kentie's launcher, try raising the priority of the HDTP and v2.0 mods. If you're not, make sure the DeusEx.u and DeusEx.int files from v2.0 replace the ones in \DeusEx\System

I re-downloaded the Deus ex 2.0 fixes to be sure. The zip file only includes DeusEx.u.

I also only have HDTP and new vision listed in Kentie's launcher.

I guess there are no changes to the in-game text with Deus Ex v2.0 then; that's what DeusEx.int would be for.

At the risk of explaining something you already figured out, make sure each mod has its' own folder in \DeusEx, then set your execution order in Kentie's launcher.
Hey there guys,

I was trying to download and install New Vision but the link provided for the tutorial video is dead anywhere we can find that tutorial video again?

Edit: Link finally worked for a mod download

Hi,
It might be useful to add these to the patches list at the beginning:
- Deus Ex Maps patch: according to this website, the game was released with an older revision of some of the maps than planned, the patch provides the latest versions.
- Deus Ex French patch: for French players out there, as the game sold on GOG is in English only. I don't know if there are other languages patches out there.
