Did you verify the installer before installing? Could be a corrupted download or corrupt installation. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Also assuming you're playing the vanilla version with no mods or other third party add-ons?

Does it run if you open it in safe mode? It's an option in the start menu folder.

Have you played around with the nGlide settings? Also an option in the start menu folder.
Yes, yes, no, and...hmm, I haven't tried that. I've looked at the nGlide stuff, but I don't see what I could change that would help. Usually, when I've had to dork around with graphics settings, it's to fix a game crash; Deus Ex isn't crashing, though, it's flat not loading at all.

It could be the problem, though. I'll bug nGlide support and see if they have any ideas.
What folder do you install the game to?
I doubt it's the video settings, although it's a possibility still worth exploring. If even safe mode doesn't work, the most likely cause is that something is killing the executable every time you run it or the installation messed up. Keep a close eye on your AV, check its quarantine, check its logs after you try to run the game. You might have to look through logs for several of your AV's different functions. Maybe have a look through the Windows Event Viewer for clues.

It's also possible that your AV blocked a part of the installation. I've seen them delete DLLs and other files during software installations. Depending on your AV settings, not all of them will tell you when they do this.
Could be. I did disable Comodo for at least one of the (several, now) installations, and that didn't seem to do anything. But I haven't scoured the logs or anything. Ugh...

C:/GOG Games/, like all my other games. I doubt it's a path problem, but what are you thinking?

Some "unpredictable results" problems are caused by putting things in Windows owned folders, like Program Files, etc. I would not expect this to be a problem on 7 or later, though. Anyhow, it is not your problem.

I'm trying to remember (it's been more than a year since I played it), is there a 3rd party video player used with DE? If so, is there a run parameter to turn it off?
Ah. Something to try: try launching the exe with the "-skipdialog" parameter.
Nnnope...
I have no idea.

Could try some voodooish things that have mysteriously helped other games... I can't remember any... Oh! You could try pulling up the folder that the game is installed to and marking it and all contents to *not* read-only.

I'm on win8 64 bit, and it works fine for me (sorry, not gloating).
Just found a thread from 2005 (!) that says instant ctd can be caused by not having enough free diskspace. Anything funky about the disk you are installed to?

Comodo is famous for interfering with some games here. I'd follow that track further. Shut it down completely during installation and when starting the game. I'd even try uninstalling it for testing.
I'm having the same problems on my system. if i run in safe mode with everything checked, i can get a windowed screen that freezes after a few seconds. Has anyone found a fix for this?
I have also had trouble playing the game. When i bought and downloaded it it worked just fine no problems at all. then when i tried to open it it looks like its about to boot up but then crashes back to the desktop. idk what happened but this isnt the only game giving me so much grief! my copy of the first Unreal game, Unreal Gold with its expansion pack in the Unreal Anthology wont run at all anymore when i played and beat the games just last year with no problems. I also found out that my copy of Diablo 1 from the Diablo Battlechest wont work anymore either. it also crashes to the desktop just when its about to boot up. i had installed it and it ran fine after i fixed the color issues with the game. now nothing. a lot of my games seem to have stopped working for no reason and when i tried to check my Fallout 2 files almost everything of that game is gone. almost all erased. all my saves are gone as well as the ability to launch the game itself. i have no idea if the issues plaguing Deus Ex GOTY and the other games are the same but if they are and anyone knows a way to fix this i sure could use the help. also of note is that the cursor for several of my games is now also messing up. when i try to move the mouse it feels like the mouse doesnt want to work and move at all. another issue is the fact that when i tried to load up a game of Diablo 2 it forced me to enter the disk for the Lords of Destruction game. i was unable to access the original Diablo 2. please, anyone help me!
Hi

My System is : Windows7 64 Bit Ultimate.

I bought the Game DeusEX Goty some minutes ago.

If I start it, it crashes.

If I start it via safemode, I have to let "Disable all sound" checked.
This is maybe the problem.

I uncheck: "Disable 3D Sound.."
"Disable 3D video.."

All other, except "reset all configuration .." , are checked.

1. Although I run the game in window-mode, it starts in fullscreen. (Run window.. is checked)
2. If I go ingame to the settings-menu and click on "keyboard/mouse" the game freeze !

The game is NOT installed in the windows-partition.

What can I do ? And how can I run the game with sound ?

I have the exact same problem, but on Windows 10.
To get it started, I have to disable all sound or I will get a "Application crushed" message at the stert.
I tried to disable all background applications including anti-virus and I tried to use other active sound equipment, but no use.

Please make me play the game!
