Anyone else redownload the game and had no luck with it fixing/updating everything? I downloaded it again and it made no improvement, I checked the folder and the MOD is in there but game doesn't work with it

Same issue... I have to run the game from .\revision\system\revision.exe to make it work.
Couldn't find a way to do it directly from Gog Galaxy
Took GOG too long to get it, or the mod makers made a deal with Steam, but I bought the game on steam rather than GOG to bet this mod. I wonder how many sales GOG missed out on and Steam made because of this?
I believe the official response from GOG is to update the original Deus Ex, then install Revision on top of that updated version.
From Galaxy click on the game, choose "MORE" -> "OTHER" -> and Deus X Revision
It will start the game with the mod activated.
If I click on "PLAY" starts the original game.

I believe something quicker must be done
Mod install FAILED. Can't find game. Because its in E drive and I shortened the name to deusex. Now what?

This didn't work for me. It only opened the following file: goggame-1525634891.ico

I was only able to start the mod by clicking the Revision.exe located in "Deus Ex GOTY\Revision\System"
I just donwloaded it into my existing install and It is working fine for me. I didn't play far but it starts up and I can talk to the folks at the start no problem...

Maybe try uninstalling everything and reinstalling it?

I have a similar issue. They need to add a way to be able to manual tell where the game is, I find these auto-searches fail more often than they succeed.

Edit: Okay got it to work. So install a second copy Deus Ex in the Program Files (x86) folder (won't work anywhere else I believe) then install the mod itself. After install, you need to go into the Deus Ex GOTY folder -> Revision folder -> System -> and use Revision.exe.

Note: This is for those who don't use GOG galaxy.

Thank you! This was killing me. I'm new to Galaxy and I couldn't figure out why it was telling me Revision was installed while it was clearly running the game without the mod. i couldn't figure out how to enable it. For anyone else having issues, using this method worked for me.
I am having the same problem. I get the message
Welcome, you are about to install:
Deus Ex Revision downloadable content

This content requires 5.1 GB of disk space and will be installed to the base game location.

(Next 2 lines in red)
The base game was not detected.
Please install the GOG version of Deus Ex GOTY

after downloading the revision mod and trying to install. I tried installing Deus Ex in Program Files (x86)
but it made no difference.
I go on Galaxy and am told that it will download the mod again !
I object to being forced to use Galaxy to download/install updates. This sort of thing is why I do not use Steam
any more.
Why cannot the updates be available from the site without having to use Galaxy, and if we download
this mod from GOG why cannot we install it ? Also why should we be forced to run any game from Galaxy,
viz. Constantine_R post above.
The mod installer can't detect the .exe for the base game it seems. I keep getting 'install this version' errors.

EDIT: Seems I was running the 2.0.0.11 version. I'm getting the .12 version, then trying this again with the installer files loaded onto my C: drive.

EDIT #2: It installs just fine if you're using the most up-to-date Deus Ex GOTY version. The 2.1.0.12 version. Just installed it without using Galaxy.

Did you re-download Deus Ex GOTY and install another copy with that? You can try that if not. I have to have two installed copies of Deus Ex for it to pick it up. Weird how there is no difference in versions of my two copies that are installed, yet one works and the other doesn't.

Also, I don't use Galaxy and works fine now. You don't need Galaxy(I don't even have it).

They really need to add a manual search. I know of a few more folks having a lot of difficultly getting it to work because it simply can't find Deus Ex GOTY.
Thanks for the replies.
I have tried the suggestions and it made no difference. I have decided not to bother and have downloaded GMDX, which installed with no problems.
After much pulling of hair, I have managed to install this mod.

I had to download the latest version (2.1.0.12) of the original Deus Ex game.
setup_deus_ex-2.1.0.12.EXE
which I installed on the internal fixed disc:
C:\Program Files\Deus Ex

To finish, I installed the Revision module, by selecting the 32MB (setup_deus_ex_revision-2.1.0.3.EXE) primer file, which uncompressed main data file (setup_deus_ex_revision-2.1.0.3-1.BIN).

(I have encountered only one (typographical) error encountered so far, after a couple of hours playthrough.)

My problem was due to the updates of the two Revision files (as well as the original Deus Ex: Game of the Year being updated) AFTER the GOG alert (a couple of weeks ago) advertising the new mod; i.e., after I had downloaded the earlier primer version, but before I had downloaded the main data file.

Specifically, the original Revision (32MB) primer file
setup_deus_ex_revision_2.0.0.2.EXE
wants its corresponding data file and setup_deus_ex_revision_2.0.0.2-1.BIN;
but now the files available for download are
setup_deus_ex_revision_2.1.0.3.EXE and setup_deus_ex_revision_2.1.0.3-1.BIN.
(Problems occurred if —like me— you downloaded the primer (2.0.0.2), with the Deus Ex installer (2.0.0.11),
which were subsequently updated to versions 2.1.0.3 and 2.1.0.12, respectively.)

I hope this helps others who have encountered problems installing this game (and others).

In conclusion, I would urge GOG to please make the versions of these files more obvious (cycling through colours, perhaps?), because the system is a nightmare for those of us who manually download & install games. Additionally, I use an external drive to store my games; my C:\ internal drive is critical for security, and I tend not to store games on it.

I would appreciate it greatly.
