voodoo47: you might have to adjust the fow yourself, see http://widescreengamingforum.com/dr/deus-ex
Manual adjustment doesn't work, it just defaults back to original settings when I start the game no matter what I do. I also tried that widescreen utility, but after I install it and then try to start the game, it tells me I need the game disc and won't start. Any ideas?
try installing the latest patch:http://www.fileplanet.com/59470/50000/fileinfo/Deus-Ex-Patch-v1112fm

that should turn the goty edition into a fully patched regular edition, and that is,believe it or not,a good thing.

The widescreen utility probably includes a copy of DeusEx.ini from a disc version. Edit that file so that the CDPath line reads CDPath=..\ which will remove the CD check.

Well, that fixed the CD check problem, but the FOV part of the utility doesn't work so i'm back to square one. I give up, I guess i'll just play it with the crap FOV.
You can change the FOV manually by entering "FOV X" into the console, where X is the desired FOV. You can also hit the Chat key (default T), remove the "Say" command, and do it from there.

Holy crap, that finally fixed it! You are made of pure awesome my friend. Thank you.

The current version of HDTP only has one updated character model, Gunther Hermann.
oops, thanks. I thought all the main characters had been replaced with new highres textures, Ive seen shots of the textured characters, but they were in T-poses, not caps from the game, too bad, I hope they are able to do the other characters. I found this site

http://offtopicproductions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1069

it says "They're on the way. In the meantime, turn up your graphics options. There's an OpenGL patch, FSAA, Ansiotropic filtering, high resolution options, all kinds of fun stuff that'll make even Paul look better"

but I am using pretty much every new graphics enhancement mod available and I still see the "jaggies" on the edges, how do I enable FSAA?
I still vote for BioMod. It's available here...

http://www.moddb.com/mods/biomod

It's a great enhancement for Shifter, primarily effecting augmentations. Clorf also changed the skill point award system so it's a little more challenging and people have more flexibility in play style.
I wanted to try out all of those mods so I followed all the steps in the guide. The mods which improve graphics work fine but for some reason Shifter and Enhanced won't work. The launcher doesn't recognize the mods properly. When I go to Data Directories, it lists the mods like this:

.u
.utx
.u
.utx
.u

I can only check the first two mods (I assume those are the graphics mods because they work), when I try to check the other ones, they are greyed out.
Anyone got an idea how I get the launcher to recognize the mods properly?

haydenaurion: Hmmm, now I don't whether I should play the game vanilla or use the Renovation patch/mod. I generally like to play games as close to the original as the developers intended if it's my first time playing a particular game, but on the other hand it sounds like Renovation fixes things, balances some things out and makes the game more challenging which I like as well. What would you guys recommend for someone who's about to play Deus Ex for the first time?
Sorry I missed this!

There was a bug in a prior version of Renovation that messed up its automatic FOV adjustment. I've fixed it in the now-uploaded version. Apologies for not catching that prior to uploading that version, though!

In the version that's up now, the FOV should always be correct no matter what resolution you use, including with scoped weapons and binoculars and such.

Oh, thank you! I'll have to try the new version later.
Hey, happy to see my steamforum topic linked in the first post. I haven't thought before to port my tutorial to the GOG DeusEx version.. but it's done now, thanks to Emualynk.
