GHOSTMD: Hey guys, downloaded and tested Deus Ex MD yesterday.

I can confirm that DEMD is fully DRM free, i did cut the internet (physical) and i did
shut down Galaxy. The game just started and did run fine when i uses the executable.
Yes the DLCs did start as well, once i did start the game external.

Yes i also kept the taskmanager open, to check if Galaxy was started while i was in game.
No Galaxy 2.0 did stood put and shut down.

So for all being concerned that this game has DRM, no it most definitly has not.
It works fully Standalone and without Internet or Galaxy as launcher.

However, for me Galaxy start it bugged, when i try to start the game from Galaxy 2.0
the game crashes after 10 secs when i hit the start button.

I hope this helps to clarify if GoG FCKDRM policy is gone, it is definitly not.

;) so long
Make sure GalaxyCommunication.exe service is not running. It stays active even after shutting Galaxy down. The story DLCs do not work as pointed out by several others on these forums.

dyscode: I cannot confirm this!

I d/led games via Galaxy but I ALWAYS play my games with the client not running and I also cut off internet connection (ethernet+wifi) and the DLC won't start.

So, what I am doing wrong?
You are doing nothing wrong. The DLC doesn't work without Galaxy active in the background.

I've had the same problem. Base game runs fine without internet connection but the DLC won't.
Hey guys. Glad to hear this game is now on GOG!

Was going to buy it, but then I come across reviews and now this forum saying this game has DRM in it despite GOG's anti-DRM stance.

I've already got the Steam version and was planning to get the GOG version so I can play it DRM-free (I play old games on GOG because let's be honest: having to go through the trouble of getting old games to run on Steam is too much of an hassle.), but this situation has given me second thoughts. Is the GOG version worth getting over the Steam version or should I hold off until GOG releases a patch to make the game fully DRM-free? Thank you!

I'd say buy it, but it depends on your priorities. If all you care about is getting a DENUVO-less executable, then you should definitely buy it. You might even get better performance than the Steam version, and the DLC problem is probably going to get fixed at some point. If you care more about principles and see this as a (more than just pragmatic) problem, I would understand not purchasing, telling GOG and SQENIX that this is not okay.

p.s. There is another way to get a DRM-free executable, by downloading the free-to-play Breach version, but getting it to work is a bit involved. It has the same problem with DLC, which is why I believe this is more incompetence than malice.
Just finish downloading the game and I can confirm that I don't get access to the season pass if I go offline, I hope they solve this quickly!!
Thanks everyone for the reports! I'll refrain from a purchase myself until this situation is resolved.

Curious to see what will happen to the current reviews afterwards, as it's still not possible to edit them for some bizarro reason.

I think I'll avoid buying Mankind Divided until GOG fixes the DLC problem. Thanks.
I assume you all use Steam as well as Galaxy yes? Trust me i can fully confirm the game is DRM free it starts and
works without Galaxy or Internet connection.

I test EVERY game from GoG for this functionality, because i buy here (same for you) because the games are
not attached to the launcher or constant internet connection.

I don t know WHAT the issue is for you guys, but for me it just works fine as GoG intents and advertises it.

Deus Ex MD works absolute standalone on my PC.

I assume it is some overlapping, when you have other launchers on your PC, i only have Galaxy and Galaxy
alone, highly administrated Win 10 as well to bend it to MY will, not the other way around.

*shrugs* try to shut down ALL your launchers then, and start Deus Ex MD from the game folder
then check of you can access all the Storys. I did that and neither on main game nor on the DLCs
Galaxy was fired up, not the internet connection was requested / required.

I don't use any other launcher and the DLC is not working without GalaxyCommunication.exe running in the background. Make sure to shut down this service as well, because it stays active after closing Galaxy.

Meanwhile GOG has confirmed that they're working on a fix for this issue:

The game does not have DRM. It's a bug with the DLC that GOG has already addressed and are working on it.

Don't wait, buy it on sale NOW wait for the fix.. you'll never get this good of a deal for awhile. Its $2 more for the DLC. main game is 100% DRM free the DLC require Galaxy at this time but will be patched later per GOG. They already fixed Dungeon Siege.

But regardless its cheaper then a good coffee so buy it now while you can.

Dang, how much money you got? if you wait it'll be really expensive.. better to do it now and wait for the fix.

I really wonder why it worked as intented then, at least for me.
Did you guys notice any forced updates on it? Before starting it for the first time
or so?

What reason should i have to lie here? None, not when it comes to OWNING what i buy.

So this kinda baffles me.

PS:
Buying it now, even when it is bugged, rather then pay 45 € for a game that "old"

10€ for both game is quite the catch and GoG ll fix this and GoG has a refund policy
remember, better than any other shop.

I bought DEMD and rebought DE HR (the only game that made me give STEAM 1 [ONE] chance)
Ever since STEAM did showed me the REAL face of the client with Deus Ex HR i boycott that
launcher and any other non optional launcher for that matter.

I know exactly HOW deep STEAM sniffs through your registry.

Affirmative!

As of DX:MD DLX Version 1.19 Build 801.0 I can play all story DLCs with Galaxy and Internet.

Now off, to give some kudos to GOG for fixing this (quite) quickly!

:)
