The question may seem stupid, but is there an active pause feature (allowing to give orders while paused) in this game that I might have ovelooked? That may convince me to give another chance to this game (I like it, but it's simply too tough for an old gamer like myself to play it realtime)

I ask that question because I was sure there wasn't one for Evil Genius either, and I just discovered (after two years playing that game) that you can simply hit "p" (and felt quite stupid, as you may imagine).

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing like that in Desperado. There is, however, quick action feature which works wonders after you master it. It's neatly described in manual and in-game tutorial. At the beginning I wasn't sure about it but then I realized that the game seemed to be too hard. With a quick action though it became manageable but still pretty hard.
I was afraid this would be the case. I'll look into those quick actions, but that game might not be for me, then : Realtime babysitting several separate characters during infiltration missions with moving enemies is a little beyond what I can manage in a game. (I'm stumped on the steamboat mission. I know what has to be done, but I'm not quick and observant enough to give orders to every character at the right time. I can only assume that it will get worse later in the game)

Nice game, but not for me, I guess.
it is silly to quit or not to give this game a chance after an relatively easy mission - boat mission. you have shadows, you have gun, you have cooper's watch and knife. nothing more is needed. u clear areas and move from shadow to shadow and aliminate them in pack or single, as you wish.

i tought too that desperados is a difficulty game, but when i got hang of it, it is abnormaly fun and thrilling

i know i won't convince you to torute your nerves and reflexes, but i had to comment :) my 2 cents
You can give orders while paused. You have to use a cheat however.

Press Lshift and F11.

At the menu type in:"timeless"

Hit enter twice.

Now you can give orders while paused. I find that this is often helpful and not a "big" cheat as I don't like how often you lose the game because you simply could not click fast enough to give multiple orders to different party members. I enjoy strategy, not how quickly I can click on 12 different things in a row.
Thanks! I'll try it :)

--> Hazexel : I know I'm missing out, but I simply can't manage to give orders to several people realtime. Too much of a clickfest to be really fun for me. I can plan the operation, I can control one guy just fine, but it's very frustrating to know what must be done (the tactic), but be unable to accomplish it because I'm too slow on the mouse. One big reason why I'm not too fond of true, non pausable "real time strategy" and "real time rpg" games
