Hi guys,

Just wanted to chime in and let you all know that both Deponias have received a serious update in the form of version 2.0. Both games now include a Multilanguage Tool that's been integrated into the game and you can choose your desired combination of speech and subtitles :)

Added langauges (Deponia):

Czech: Text
Italian: Voice and text
French: text.
Russian: Text
Turkish: Text
Polish: text
Bulgarian: Text
Spanish: Voice and text.
Greek: Text.

Added languages (Chaos on Deponia):

French: text
Russian: Text
Polish: Text
Italian: Voice + text
Spanish: Voice + text.

Sorry about the lack of patches but so much has changed that it's best to start clean with all-new installers especially when you're going from game version 1.X to 2.X. Thanks for your understanding and have a nice day :)

DyNaer: I just hope , it's gonna not the case with all games which have multiples languages, because redownloading all games for this , it's just atrocious.....
We do what we can as far as updates go but sometimes there are too many changes for a patch. Remember, it's not only the languages that got added but the engine for the games got overhauled as well. I know my asnwer won't help much but it's all I got :(

Prian: What about german?
No German for German-made games!

(I am kidding, it's still there :P )

fabian.troester: Thank you for the patch of sorts ... I understand that patching might sometimes be a bit complicated, but redonwloading games this huge is not much fun either. But don't misunderstand me: I don't complain. :)

But ...
More important than telling us about the language options (which is still nice) would be some release notes about the changes regarding the engine overhaul.

I'm asking this, because I for instance could never finish Deponia 2, since it reproducibly crashed during the scene where Rufus is hanging from the platform and his evil twin attempts to kill him. I hope that crash is fixed.

So, please, if you could give us these release notes, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Fabian
The engine being upgraded and various fixes is all I got, I swear :) I really didn't get anything specific, other than what I've already listed, sorry :/

Ah and I forgot: the Multilanguage Selector that lets you mix and match languages so you can have Italian voices with German subtitles, for example :)

ZivilSword: Great, now I can download 18GB again … (two games, Win and Mac versions). Brace yourselves, GOG servers, there are downloads coming!

But I see the advantage, and choosing the language and subtitles in-game is much much better than installing and patching with German language (which also used to take another five minutes). :) Thank you.
We. Are. Ready!

inkBot: I would warn against this update (at least for Deponia 2) if you've already started playing, since I installed it and now the game won't shut up.

It will constantly play a sample over and over. Moving to another scene doesn't help, it merely changes the language of the sample. The english file sounds like Doc saying "Hey", but I'm not sure. The other languages I have no clue, but assume it's the same.

Talking to a character doesn't help, moving to another scene doesn't help (though in some scenes the sound doesn't play, but I think that has to do with something else), loading a previous save file doesn't help, restarting the game doesn't help and neither does reinstalling it.

I think it borked my savefiles. Hadn't come very far into it, but still a pain to have to start over just because of this.
Silly question but are you using saves from a previous version of Deponia?

inkBot: I started playing Chaos on Deponia just recently, before the most recent patch/update. Then I saw the game was updated and downloaded the updated installer and ran that, afterwhich the described issues appeared. If that's what you mean, then yes.
Could you try a clean playthrough without using saves from a previous game? I think due to the fact that the Deponia games did get an engine upgrade there may be an issue with saves from the older version.

Leroux: The download tab is listing a separate installer for each language but is there actually a difference between them or is it always the same file?

I downloaded "Windows installer, German", and after the installation I selected German as both spoken and written language, and the menu, subtitles and voiceovers are in German, but the intro is still using the text of the English version, e.g. "Daedalic Entertainment presents a game by" instead of "Daedalic präsentiert ein Spiel von", and - more importantly - it's listing the English voice actors instead of the German ones ... (Monty Arnold does not deserve remaining unmentioned in the German version!)
As for the installers, yes, it's all the same file as it contains all the languages in one installer. As for the intro, I am not sure we can do anything about that :/

Leroux: Too bad. :( But thanks for the quick reply!
Yeah, we can't change anything in the game. Perhaps Daedalic will, though :)

Leroux: If you have some way of letting them know or asking about it, that would be really cool. I understand if you don't, though.
Hey, would it be too much for me to ask you to navigate their official forums to see if this problem hasn't been reported? Only reason I ask is because when I go over there, I get these nice little gems of translation such as "Chaos on Mass Effect" and other oddities. Thanks, Google Chrome autotranslate! :D

Again, this is optional :)

Leroux: I can do that later tonight and see if there are threads about the GOG version.
Thanks and sorry if I am asking but my German is non-existent :)

Also, I have to say the translator has gotten a bit better as "Chaos on Deponia" used to translate as "Chaos on Raccoon" :D

Leroux: Hey Judas, I've checked their German forums and the only thing remotely connected that I found was a comparison between German retail version and GOG version, where the poster complained that the GOG version is using the screaming sounds of the English voice actor on some occasions even with the German voiceovers enabled. That was back in 2012 though, I haven't checked if this is still the case after the new update. I didn't find any comments about the new GOG update.
Thanks for giving it the native speaker check for me, Leroux. I really appreciate it. I'll see what I can do about the issue you mentioned but I make no guarantees that it will be :/
