Devs, any chance we'll be seeing this update in the near future on GOG? The amount of content is massive (great work!), so I'm looking forward to hopefully trying it out soon.
It's really not out on GOG yet?

The announcement I saw for it, dated January 29th, specified "All Platforms", so I thought it had auto-updated...
The last update on the GOG changelog I can see is for the Halloween update.
I really hope that AORTA comes soon for GOG, Death Road To Canada is one one the few games i actually bought close to launch and would love to reinstall when the new installer comes.
Yes... the in-game version info says October 29th 2016, SPLEEN update.

The latest released version, AORTA, came out on January 29th, two weeks ago. Yet we GOG users still don't have access to it.

Can the developers really just stop updating their game?
Has GOG not made any arrangements to protect their users from this?

Not happy about being treated like a 2nd class customer here.
I don't think developers have stopped caring, maybe it just takes a little more time for the DRM-free version.
Don't know, maybe the latest version needs few bug fixes before it gets a solid build uploaded. But yeah you are right, it would be nice if we could get AORTA update soon.
Filthy GOG peasants. Updates are too good for you!
Come on! I cannot believe it! When will we get it? I mean, c'mon GOG, I am disappoint!
I feel a little disappointed that we haven't received this update too. However, I have quite a bit of faith in GOG; perhaps it is an oversight. Might it be appropriate to file a ticket or shoot them a quick e-mail (or has someone already contacted staff regarding the update)?

I don't think GOG is responsible for putting out updates. Most likely it's entirely up to the devs if they update their game or not.

However, people are starting to realize that games on GOG aren't being updated in a timely manner. If games bought on GOG consistently get month-long delays between updates compared to other distribution platforms, customers might very well decide to start shopping elsewhere.

When getting a game that's available on both GOG and Steam, I've always gotten it on GOG. But if I'm going to have to get updates more than a month late by buying on GOG, I'm going to have to change priorities.

Basically, while I think the developers are to blame here (if they weren't willing to put out updates for GOG then they shouldn't have decided to distribute their game through it), I believe GOG's aloofness in this matter is going to cost them quite a few customers.
The recent launch of Party Hard has raised some issues regarding updates for small indie games arriving on Steam and not here.
I found also a wishlist entry relative to our problem:
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/no_more_outdated_or_abandoned_games

While I can understand that some updates can take longer to appear here or some beta builds could be omitted, not having a major content patch after so long is bad not only for customers, but for GOG's reputation too in the long run.
I have ask Rocketcat Games via Twitter when the Aorta Update will come to GOG and they haved replyed with:
"Working on it, we had a big problem that cropped up with the updates that is still ongoing."

so they are working on it.
Hello! Yeah there was a problem that slipped through in the last update that causes crashing in a small % of people. It was a big enough problem that it shut down our update work. We also didn't want to push the crash to new platforms, so it stopped the GOG version.

It's an incredibly annoying issue because it's partially out of our hands. Microsoft driver crap. We tried to fix it for weeks, but gave up because the issue doesn't really seem to make any sense on our end. Now we're in the process of PLAN B: rewriting it so the new drivers are once again not necessary.

What we're planning on doing now is just taking those parts out, so we can at least push the content so it's current on the DRM-free versions. This will involve taking out the achievements, for now. Then we'll work on getting those back in.

I'll post again when I have more news on this.
It's good to hear! Can't wait to get the Cold Steel Greatsword in-game! :D Until I get the real thing, I mean. Maybe, in the future, when I retire. And it is finally socially acceptable. So yea, the game version for now. Cheers cheers!

I think owning a Cold Steel giant weapon is socially acceptable, it just depends on where you live.

EDIT: GOG version should be sent out today. I forget how long it takes to get out on GOG, though I think it's less time than it takes for getting an update on the App Store.

This will be the content update I was talking about, above. Achievements removed for now, since we need to fix that crash problem. This will include the latest content, added today:

- Big Feature: New trader type that can buy your spare weapons.
- New rare recruit that spams a regenerating Limited Edition Air Horn.
- New rare trader/recruit: Sir Boney, the Skeletal Knight
- New trader that sells polearms as his specialty.
- Bunch of new weapon types, mostly associated with the new traders and characters.

Woah... after all this time with no new content, this is going to feel like a breath of fresh air.
