Hey I got a little giveaway for y'all. Steam copy of this game if anyone can tell me who killed Laura Palmer. Its a tricky question and I am only counting those who answer it fully and correctly. I will pick randomly from anyone who does answer right and this time next week you will have a Steam key of Deadly Premonition!
I can come up with at least three possible answers which will be correct :)
But I already have the game on both GOG and Steam :)

I really wanted to answer, since I'm a *huge* Twin Peaks buff, but I'm not interested in a Steam copy at all, I don't endorse Steam and I refuse to gift Steam games to friends. Getting the game just to do another second giveaway doesn't make much sense to me, as well. Also, I already own a GOG copy. ^o^

That being said, I'm still excited to see the conversations and theories this thread will generate!

All right, so, without using names, my answers would be:
- Insane man
or
- Man possesed by spiritual being following orders of another spiritual being
or
- Herself (assisted suicide)

My Twin Peaks nerdiness knows no bounds which is why I love this game so damn much, I really wish though that SWERY followed his original vision and made it even more like Peaks wonder if CBS threatened to sue or something.

This isn't hard people come on! Get Steam Trading cards and stuff with it lol

Ok, then, here it goes... hahaha! Laura was killed by Leland, her father, possessed by Bob, an entity from the Black Lodge. I'm just going with the quick, easy answer. Novotnus argued it was assisted suicide, maybe because of the double life she led (drug abuse, prostitution, etc), but I don't think she wanted to die. When her father dies she forgives him, which leads me to believe she knew her death caused pain to those close to her, and therefore I don't think her death was suicide.

Then again, I haven't watched the Fire Walk With Me movie, maybe that sheds more light on the suicide theory, but based on the series alone, the straightforward answer is Leland Palmer, while possessed by Bob.

It could only be considered suicide in that she had premonitions *HA* that it was going to happen, knew that her father had BOB in him, and gave herself for her friends and families sake. But pretty much it was murder.

Alright you will get it you may give the key to someone if you like, spread the game love around.

I see what you did there. *o*

I guess I'll give it to someone who doesn't know about it and I know is going to *love it*. A friend who's also a big Twin Peaks fan.

No, I mean she literally used BOB to kill herself :)
But if you haven't watched Fire Walk With Me, rush to the nearest video store and fix it, you'll see what I mean. It's worth watching - even if Laura's part is not as enjoyable as the show, FBI investigating Theresa Banks' murder and Lodge segments make up for it.

Fire Walk With Me I have always felt was David Lynch's Twin Peaks if he had full creative control of the show and not Mark Frost and the studio exec's more 'normal' take on the material. Love the show more but the movie is very fascinating on its own.

It's a real shame he never had a chance to make more movies in that universe and conclude the story.
And it kind of supports suicide theory, don't you think? :)

Yes and No. She didn't want to die but was protecting those she cared about.

As I see it, she suspected that BOB will try to pass on her after he disposed Leland. She knew that the ring is a 'BOB beacon', so she put it on to make him kill her rather than posses her and use her body in his future Garmonbozia hunts.

Always felt sorry for Leland though, it was implied he was molested as a kid by BOB and he seemed like a nice fuddy duddy when he wasn't controlled by BOB.
