Sor_Eddie: So is it still 1.01a and not the latest 1.01b patch? Can someone please lemme know?

JudasIscariot: We haven't gotten the latest patch yet. As soon as we get it, we'll update the game :)

Hicks233: Is anyone else getting the controller option simply being greyed out and not selectable despite having a (360) Controller connected and otherwise working?
avatar
JudasIscariot: I played the latest version we have of Deadly Premonition with a controller. Are you running the executable directly or are you running the DP Launcher executable?
Desktop shortcut that was made once installation completed that leads to the launcher.

I'll try using the executable from the directory :)

*edit*

Tried the executable and still no luck.

I've the same Issue with an wired X-Box 360 Controller. No Way to activate the Controller in Deadly Premonition. But an PS3 Controller (connected via Bluetooth with Motion in Joy-Drivers) work fine for me.

Weird. I have a wired Xbox 360 controller and it works fine. Not sure what the problem is. Keep in mind I am using both our latest version and DPfix but the controller worked fine even before I applied the DPFix.
Found a solution for some instances of the controller not working.

This was from a user (odwillisque) on the steam forums.

"Found a solution to my problem at least, for whoever might need it in the future. On Windows 7, I had to go into "set up USB game controllers" in the control panel. With my controller appearing there, I went to Advanced options and changed my preferred device to that. Somehow it got switched to none, and I guess Deadly Premonition only looks for the preferred USB controller as opposed to just whatever's plugged in."
I personnaly got used to Pinnacle Game Profiler for my controller problem, but thanks for your solution. ^^
I still get random crashes when playing ... Does anyone know if another patch is in the way ? Save for the Steam one that apparently just corrects one thing that isn't relevant to the crashes.
I got also random freezes. Patch 1.02 for Gog on the way?
Unfortunately, it doesn't look likely that GOG will be receiving the updated 1.01b patch or further updates for Deadly Premonition. I've been in contact with Rising Star Games and this is what I was told...

"From the feedback I have received from our Production Coordinator the patch was unable to be transferred into any non-Steam version of the game due to a compatibility misalignment. With the developers ceasing to work on the project we have been left without a transferrable patch regrettably."

Rising Star was very apologetic, but (sadly) that comment seems fairly conclusive. It's a shame that the PC version of the game didn't receive the kind of treatment it deserved, though it's great that it was made available at all.

Somehow I find it hard to believe :) The game is not made with Steamworks in mind, it's DRM-free here so patching is all about replacing certain files...
And blaming the dev who barely speaks English and can't defend himself is kind of low... Even if that's the case, this kind of comments should be exchanged between the dev and the publisher. Anyway, if you want to ask the dev directly, here he is: https://twitter.com/Swery65
He seems to be rather friendly to fans, so maybe with enough people being unhappy we can make him do something about the second patch.

I wish they could be more transparent and tell us what the exact issue is. This is the second time I've been screwed by Deadly Premonition.

I was waiting for this patch in order to buy the game. Now I won't. And if the developers are not willing to support their game then I see no reason for it to exist in the GOG gamebase.Who would buy this when he knows that a critical patch for the game won't be available?

I did and I'm pretty happy about it :)
Actually that missing patch fixes only one bug that hardly cripples the game.

I would. In fact, I did. I even wrote a somewhat extensive love letter to the game, Swery and GOG, which you can read here.
So is the game flawlessly playable with full controller support? What I don't like about this is their position towards GOG. What does Steam have more to offer than GOG in order to have the latest patch available and GOG not? Don't they know that the paying customer is always right?

As I understand it, the guilt is tossed between Rising Star and Access Games.
I'm more willing to believe that Access Games have no idea about PC market and as a very small studio they lack a proper PR person who can communicate in English well.
Rising Star expect somebody else to do their job and when nobody does, they say they don't care and don't get enough support from the devs.
