Exactly what it says on the tin: I am considering buying this game but I havent been able to find out how much of the content is procedurally generated, which I regard as very important. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance
I think most of the replayability is in the random encounters as most of the other elements (such as towns and people you meet) always seem the same, ie same looking person, same story. But they do behave differently depending on your actions in game. However, don`t take my word on it as I`ve only played the game twice. First briefly, then started a rerun when I understood the rules better. I also took a long time out from the game and haven`t played with the new recent updates that they now call it `Reanimated` Dead state.
It seems to be pretty orthodox in the approach most games of this ilk take.

The maps and characters within them are of course all preset. Item containers are a mix of randomised (with restrictions - eg a fridge will give random food items, and not weapons) and preset (eg game plot items).

Random encounters draw from a large set of maps prebuilt for that purpose. These don't often result in much bounty though, so you could not keep the shelter stocked by relying on these alone. Many times they do introduce a new ally though - on top of allies you will gain through the preset maps and preset game plot events. So your crew will build up diffently each game.

The data items objects seem to always be in preset locations, but the data they reveal is completely randomised as are those annoying password anagram puzzles to unlock them!

The radio DJ's daily chatter seems to be hardwired preset.

The daily 8am morning events (eg characters whining they are sick) are a mix of random and preset.

Then of course, your actions will also add variations to how each game plays out!

Aside from my necromancy skills :P

There is very little procedural generation in this game.

Random encounters, that's about it.

Recruitable NPC's are based on the day, sometimes the radio broadcast (sometimes these coincide, sometimes you have a day or two play with, especially if it's a hint from a character already in the shelter).

Other than that, I don't even think the items are random, it's all scripted, from day 1 to day 100+

No replayablity, really, as the game sucker punches you if you don't follow the script and beat the (unseen) doomsday timer.
