Does anyone know how to pause this game? There are a couple of scenarios in the campaign where its almost essential that the player can pause quickly using a hotkey and then issue orders to the units while everything is frozen.

I've tried hitting "Pause/Break" and "p" but they dont work. Appreciate it if somebody could point me in the right directions.

The idea of tactical pausing and issuing orders wasn't something about in the days of Dark Reign - even today its only an option on some RTS games (though I think homeworld might have started it with giving orders in pause mode - but I haven't played that in a long time now).


For the missions you'll have to get used to control groups and effective use of them. Combine that with fast moving around the minimap and keyboard shortcuts and you should be fine for most missions.

YES, ye can pause : click for instance on 'save/load game' and the game pauses.
Ye can even give some orders, like giving a unit(s) direction.
Unpausing is easy : for instance click on orders and game is running again.
I use it to fast breaks to here r there ; or think some stuff through when i get my ***** kicked bad.

Not a real pause, but it'll do the trick. :D

Actually, though it's been a while since I've played this game, you should be able to go into the menu on the right hand side of the machine and set speed to nothing, this effectively pauses the game.
