Computers can be fickle things. I recently found out that of my memory sticks had started causing graphical glitches and freezes in some games. Same thing happens with video cards. First go with the simplest solution which would be to reinstall the game and keep your save. If that doesn't work then reinsert your video card and memory sticks. Sometimes pins can get loose for whatever reason over time. If that doesn't help then I don't know what to tell you. You might see even more hiccups in other games which would be an indicator that something is slightly wrong within your system.
