i can't figure out why. since the first time i drove a car in game i thought they were terrible, handled terribly, slid all over the road and it had half a second delay when you tell them to turn. i thought it must just be my computer, maybe it's gotten to old and just can't keep up with the game but then i tried driving a motocycle and it handled so damn well. i love driving around with the motorcycle and it shows that it wasn't my computer but the the cars themselves that was the problem which raises the question, why?
did 2 different teams work on these? how are they this different...
I find the driving to be just fine, as long as you use third-person camera. Cars are a little "heavy" like in GTA4 but I like that, personally.

In first-person it's a clusterf**k though, sadly.
Its because seating is too low and it needs to be higher, just like in real life. If your view point is too low you wont see shit.
I was wondering this last night as I did like 80% of the self driving car fetch quests, and the motorcycle is almost spot on, a few of the cars are almost impossible to handle, but most of them are okay.

It seems like the motorcycle's camera doesn't snap back in 3rd person, but the cars do. Having the camera snap back every 3 seconds is really annoying and disorienting. I found most of the cars handle fine though, except the 'smart' car that handles like a clown car. Even the tiniest turn tries to turn it into a circle. My guess on that is they need to go in and change the sensitivity on a per-car basis because the steering wheel is turning the same for every car.

I'd say 80% of it's fine tho, I just find a car I like to drive and off I go, or I take the motorcycle and hope I don't bury it into a semi.

TPP in general gives you better awareness of what's around you. It's why I like that more than FPP.
The car driving is fine. More than serviceable even if they add in car chases and what not. It still good. I'm guessing you have this opinion because it's the opinion the internet told you to have.

what part of me having driven both cars and motorcycles did you not understand?
i have 60+ hour in game now, i have driven several of the cars and almost all of them handles like a refrigerator of wheels. this is my own opinion not one i've picked up online.
Motorcycle is better but certainly does not handle like a motor cycle when turning sharply. Handles like a hover bike indeed like reviewers said.

That and it's just easier to see the forces at play in 3rd person. These cars don't have electronic stability control like modern vehicles are required to have. That means they can move in a direction other than the direction the nose is pointing, which allows you to do tricks like slide around a corner or do a 180.

Problem is, if you were race driving in real life you could feel the forces with your body and feel the tension on the wheel.... in a video game (especially in first person) you get none of that information so you don't know which direction the vehicle is drifting until you go into third person.
I drive in 1st person and I think the cars feel great. The motorbikes feel terrible to me but that's because I ride motorbikes in real life and it's almost impossible to make them feel anything like realistic. I honestly don't know why so many people complained about the cars in reviews.
Each car is very different in its physics, the same can be said about motorcycles. The first rides you got are pretty clunky, but if you try other vehicles, you will see - they are much better.
I have been using a bike a lot lately, when the game works.
Though I didn't start using it on purpose, I'm enjoying the fact that I can bob and weave through traffic and drive directly into hostile areas without having to walk a ways.
