Why is the game extreamly slow on my PC?

Since I could play the game on my old ooold PC 15 years ago I expected it to work on my old 2006 PC also but it does not. Well, it works but its unplayble slow. The Origin logfo alone takes up to 40 min to load and the game usaly crashes before i can skip the intro that also is way to slow and sould take hours to play.

I have checked the rekomendations and it should work on my PC just barely but it does not. Is it because I have an intergrated graphic card? This is the only GoG game so far that I haven't been able to play.

Is there anything I can do? Why does it have so high system req?

Very weird. Do you have any problems with other dosbox based titles?

I remember once having massive load times for a game (Tron 2.0) and later discovering it was due to an extremely fragmented HD. But it didn't affect the gameplay at all.

If possible, try the game in another machine of similar composition. Also, on some earlier DosBOX versions some games would run better in my machine windowed. Maybe you should try it too.
Well, that's because You weren't emulating DOS 15 years ago, now You are. Emulation takes it's toll.
You may try playing around with the setting in dosboxCRUSADER.conf
Try setting:
priority=higher,normal to priority=highest,higher
scaler=normal2x to scaler=none
core=auto to core=dynamic
If that doesn't move it, check out the cycles value, change from max to 30000 and the cycleup and cycledown values to 5000.
While playing the game, adjust the cycle values with CTRL f11 to DECREASE the cycles by 5000 and CTRL f12 to INCREASE them by 5000. Try to find the sweet spot.
DosBOX is quite touchy on lower specs, i believe it ran best on 53000 on my old rig.

Trivia: I've upgraded in 2006 solely to get Crusader playable under DosBOX. That was my first upgrade in 6 years.
I found tha problem by accident . It was Graphic Mode that messed up my game. Changed it to Surface and now tha game works like a charm.

Anyway, thanks for the help and the quick responce. :)
No problemo, i was thinking about "use surface" but then i realized, it's the default setting, so it couldn't be it.
Have fun blasting those corporate bastards!:)

GOG might use different defaults.

True that! Though i'm sure Crusader uses surface as the default output in the GOG's release. Least that's what my installation shows. Hence, it must've been manipulated, and i didn't suspect that.;)

+1 for posting your solution. Sometimes folks fix something themselves and forget to share the knowledge.
