Heya

In mission 3 of CNR, when you get to the conveyor belts, there's a floating platform the course of which can be changed by shooting red/blue buttons. I can see a red key card that looks like it can only be reached by making the platform float over there, but I can't figure out which buttons to shoot in what order. Does anybody know the solution or a walkthrough that describes it?

Thanks,
T.

Just saw your post, are you still having problem with this? Are you playing No Remorse or No Regret?

If you are playing No Remorse, IIRC there was tons of conveyer belts in mission 3 so it's hard to pinpoint your location on that info alone. How far are you in mission 3? Can you upload a few screenshots that show me where you are? Once I know this, I can probably walk you through it.

Hi

Yes, I'm still having problems. I kind of gave up after opening this thread. I'm indeed playing No Remorse and here are some screenshots. I've tried to capture most of the room and hope this will suffice for you to identify it.

Thanks,
T.

Hi again, I now know the area you're at and I have a solution for you, so here it is :)

First, getting that red keycard isn't necessary to complete the mission so if you can't be bothered, you can skip it entirely. However, proper use of that keycard will get you a shiny new RP-22, if you finish the mission without it, getting that red keycard was waste of time. I won't tell you anymore as I believe I'm entering spoiler territory if I do, unless you say it's okay :)

Anyways, to get there is actually a lot simpler than it looks. When you get to the area in your screenies, first activate the switch on the scaffolding and shoot the left red/blue light/switch/whatever thing once. The sequence should be red/ blue/blue and the switches near the lift to get up should be blue/blue/red but we won't be touching those switch thingies at all. When you do that, the floating platform can now be walked on from the scofolding. Check my first screenie for details. Once you are on the platform, crouch and shoot the same left red/blue switch once and the floating platform will now go to the area with the red keycard, see second screenie for proof. Go figure huh? 6 red/blue switch thingies to play with and you only need to shoot one of them twice.

And there you have it, hope that helps you get out of your jam. If it does turn out to be too much trouble, or if you botched a save by randomly shooting switches, you can always skip this part. You won't be using the RP-22 at the end of the game anyways :) Remember, you can only carry 5 weapons at a time in this game (there is no weapon carry limit in no regret) so you might want to keep that in mind if you didn't know, You definately don't want to be hanging on to that crappy BA-40/BA-41 past mission 5.(though I usually ditch my BA-40 after the first mission and use the BA-41 from Weasel until mission 5 or so) :)

Hi,

Thanks so very much. You really helped me out here - I hate not being able to get everything. Nice screenshots, too. :)

I could kick myself for having bought the RP-22 beforehand, though. _._ I hope I didn't waste too much of your time.

I only use the BA-40 for switches and cameras anyway - I haven't reached the weapon limit yet and I like to conserve ammo.

Thanks again,
T.
I wouldn't worry about buying the RP-22 beforehand, you actually have quite a lot of leeway on how you use credits so flushing a few down the toilet here and there isn't a big deal. I bought the RP-32 in one of my playthroughs only to find it didn't cut it in later missions and that's more expensive than the RP-22 (the RP-32 can be skipped entirely). In my opinion, there are only 5 things you absolutely should buy from Weasel. The fission battery, fusion battery, AC-88, UV-9 and the PA-31, once you have those, you don't need credits anymore. To my knowledge the batteries cannot be found in any of the missions and the 3 weapons I mentioned above appear too late in the game to wait for them, everything else can be scavenged. Credits for anything else is gravy and you do have loads to spare as long as you loot every corpse so I wouldn't kick yourself too hard over it :)

Also, at the end of mission 3, you should be carrying 4 weapons, just 1 away from the 5 weapon limit which is why I brought it up in my last post. By all means, save ammo for the time being, but later in the game, you won't be conserving ammo ;)

Big +1 for going above and beyond.
I remember this part, those jumping puzzles and conveyer belts can be tricky throughout the game... the game engine and mechanics do not really lend itself well to platforming, but I eventually got through it.
