I already have both Crusader games running in Dosbox from the original discs. They run pretty well except for some wierd sound glitches.(these sound glitches seem to be common among a lot of games running in Dosbox) I'm trying to figure out if the GOG versions are somehow configured to run faster or if there is any reason for me to get these versions and play them instead of my own Dosbox installs.

Any insight?
it's not like someone is forcing you to buy this game... but I'm pretty sure the Gog version runs the same game in dosbox, so just get this if you want the extras if there are any extras.

If you have any friend/efriend who happen to own the game on gog.com, you could try and see if the sound glitch is still there, then buy it if it's working.

Sure it would be some kind of "grey" area action, but you already own the discs and will get it if it's working fine, you shouldn't be sued or banned for doing that.

Normally, GOG.com version are the latest stable version, wrapped up in DosBox (or any other wrapper needed), with the right settings.

Well, I also own one of the crusader games and I prefer to have GOG version because the installation is so convenient.

regarding sound issues, you can try installing this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/
(remember to copy the dosdrv.exe to the game directory and run it before the game launches, it is best to add the line to the dosbox configuration file - autoexec section to run the dosdrv.exe just before the game starts)

I have used this back in the days when I played Discworld 1.

Another reason to buy these games on GOG is to have a back-up. CDs don't have eternal life. By buying on GOG you'll have your Crusader games available at all times, anywhere on the world. I own the games as perfectly good CD copies, but I bought them on GOG anyway quite a while ago. As it so happens, in that time I actually misplaced my No Remorse disc when I wanted to install the games. I was happy for my electronic back-up. I did find my CD again, but at that time I was afraid I had lost it somehow.

There is also no hassle involved installing, no configuring DOSBox. I'm often a lazy gamer, I want to install and play right away without having to find the perfect settings for DOSBox. I can't say I remember weird sound glitches in the GOG versions of the games, but don't pin me down on that.

Now thats not a good reason. Or do you think that GOG will run forever?
I have the originals, still i bought them from GOG again. Simple because i don't need to search for the latest patch and maybe dl them from some unknown sites
If you alredly have the cd versions, I can´t find big reasons for you buying them.
But if you really like the games, wait for a promo and take both for 6 bucks..

GOG will probably outlast my CDs and the ease of installing in itself is already a huge plus.
I usually buy the games even when I have the originals since I am lazy. Just downloading the installer and then run the game is worth a few bucks in my book. For some games the original media have died already (like my Syndicate floppy disks...) for others I just don't feel like switching install CDs. Also with the gog version you do not have to keep a cd in the drive to start the game.
