i loved the games as a kid, as a teenager and still! they are unique, and awesome even after all those years. i get more enjoyment than from many newer titles!

sadly sequels werent made and a tv series or movie i read about was also not made, cause ea didnt want it :(
Yes they're great games with a lot of printed backstory which Origin's games were known for.
I really loved the Robocopesque atmosphere.

Didn't know about the TV series, I gather that it would be too violent for kids and too camp for adults which might not have been a bad thing that the idea was abandoned.

On the other hand, I'm open for sequels.
Perhaps Tony Zurovec can buy the IP and do a Kickstarter, I would pledge the moment I hear about it.
definitely, i would also pay for it and have some andrew sega music :D

It is a shame the No Mercy sequel wasn't made and I feel it's too late to make one now. We can always hope for a spiritual sucessor but if one was made, I have a feeling it would be a first person shooter for fairly obvious reasons. While that in and of itself may not be a bad thing, the biggest issue would be whether or this this game would retain the atmosphere of the original?

As for similar games? Sigh, don't really know of any but I get this feeling that I should know for reason.
i think this is one of the strong points, the game was and is still so unique that it should not be made a first person shooter game. even games like shadowrun got succesfull kickstarters, this might be a succesful one too as it doesnt have to cost lots of $$$$$$$ like a 3d FPS.
I'd back another Crusader game if kickstarted...
I found Shadowgrounds (£3.99 on Steam) and its sequel Shadowgrounds Survivor (£6.99 on Steam) to be very similar to the Crusader Games...

Sure it's darker and the story is different but the gameplay is similar as are the controls and the overall look...

The graphics are stunning...

I know the feeling.
Seeing the screenshots of Crusader triggered a memory playing a demo from the 90's --which I thought was this game, but no. The character from that demo was a cyborg (or android?) and painted blue (possibly). I remember being able to upgrade it in-between missions such as the power-unit in its chest.

Wish I could remember the name.

As far I remember...

Cybermercs: The Soldiers of the 22nd Century, made by some asian guys, Digital Impact, 1998 - some kind of offspring between Crusader and Diablo

Meat Puppet, made by authors of Fear Effect, Kronos Digital Entertainment, 1997 - pretty dark futuristic cyberpunk world, where you play as hooker-assassin

Syndicate & Syndicate Wars, made by famous Bullfrog Productions, 1993 & 1996 - more tactical, squad-based
and sandbox-oriented variant of Crusader

Gender Wars, made by The 8th Day, 1996 - similar to Syndicate, but about war between genders

I found the name of that game I was trying to remember. It was called "Total Mania" also known as "Total Mayhem".
