I am disappointed with this game. It's tedious, finicky and unrewarding.

The timing is too tight, the guards don't stay knocked out for long enough to actually DO anything, the whole thing is really demanding, and there's no payoff, nothing rewarding about it. There's no action, no excitement.

I'm partway through the second mission, and frankly can't be arsed to continue. I could figure it out, if I was motivated to do so, but the game has failed to make me give a damn.

The voice-acting is very poor, and the whole exaggerated "70's" thing is frankly annoying. I was a teenager in the 70's, I know what it was like, and this is like a bad caricature.

Huh, if you gave up half-way during the second mission, then IMHO you are really short of patience and this game definitely isn't for you.

OTOH if you can muster up the patience, it actually is quite rewarding. But you have to plan your route through the level very carefuly. Though I made some mistakes as well (like planning to knock out a guard which turned out to be knock-out-resistant) and still managed to get away with reloading an autosave just minute or two back, then trying a different approach.

What I really found frustrating (beside that nasty bug, of course: https://www.gog.com/forum/crookz_the_big_heist/great_big_cantbelivetheymissedit_bug) was the power plant mission, where you can only take three characters, but really need four. I couldn't find a way to get all the loot and still finish the mission unnoticed (which is the only thing I call successful mission). Perhaps if I brought along a whole bunch of tape-erasing magnets - and even then...

But then I realised, I wasn't meant to finish it perfectly in the first go anyway (even though I managed to finish all missions before this one and most of the following ones - save for Federal Reserve - in first try). You're actually supposed to finish it any way at all at first, then when your characters get additional abilities, return and finish it perfectly (if you are a perfectionist, that is).

Well, I was a teenager during 70s as well. And the way I remember, they actually were that bad. The fashion, make-up, people talking like retarded, all gadgets larger than life (remember boom-boxes?) and worst of all: disco music! Man how I hated disco! (Today I can listen to it and even feel a bit nostalgic.) :)

So I find the game's exaggeration of the 70s theme actually funny.

("Hey, police just got new state-of-the-art teletyping machines, that can send a whole page thousand miles away in under a minute!") :-D
