In the reviews I read that this game is unplayable on a keyboard (a race is mentioned). Is this true or is this just (another) game that just plays a bit better on keyboard.

And btw: it is nearly Halloween - why isn't this game on a sale? ;)

Costume Quest is most definitely playable with a keyboard alone, I did it for several times, now. It's just one of those games that was developed with a controller in mind, so it does play a bit better when you use a controller or a gamepad. If you don't have any of those (I don't), it shouldn't stop you from playing the game using your keyboard. It may not be as streamlined and easy to control as it would have been with a controller, but it sure is playable.
