Can anyone get the Konami code to work on Contra (NES)?

Yes, I got it to work in the NA version, pressed ZX for 'BA' since I was using a QWERTY keyboard. The first few tries did not work, so I used Game Reset until it did, I don't know why.

yes, there's some problem with entering the code even with multiple resets.
I restarted the entire program and it'll work.

for those interested in the two player code,
there's an extra 'BA' (or ZX on keyboard)
so..
up, up, down, down, B, A, B, A, select (tab), start (enter)

Remember, A and B are reversed on the XBOX controller compared to Nintendo pads, so if you're using one of those, pressing the buttons labelled AB will input BA

Is it the same as the original Contra or do we have a different code now for the version on GOG?

On the keyboard I used the arrow keys, the letter Z for the B button, and the the letter X for the A button, but it took a couple tries. Honestly I wasn't sure when exactly you're supposed to use the code, so I kept putting it in as soon as the game started and in the main menu before the rolling demo started. I had to keep restarting the game until it worked, it took a few tries. I'm also not sure if it helps to put in the code quickly or slowly.

I have tried both the Xbox 360 controller and keyboard. I tried everything suggested in this post. Nothing worked. I tried it for Super C and Contra 3 : Aliens wars.

Thanks for your help. I'll give it a try. I'll also use different controllers too and see what happens.

Contra is an all-time cool game and it makes dying a way-of-life, so the code really helps keep it fun for run through.
