I don't think it's likely. It was broken in Win 8 don't see it getting fixed for Windows 10.
Wish it worked :l
I'd just like to 1up this. If you're able to get it working on Windows 10, I'll snag it in a heartbeat!
Anyone got this working on windows 10, might buy it if it does, even though I don't have windows 10 atm. Also, what is stoping GOG from updating it for windows 8 and 10?

I got it by modifying the conquest.ini
In the [System] section(under USER do not modify), I changed:
IRenderPipeline = RendSft
to:
IRenderPipeline = Rend0

The movies played fine. I selected options, and the screen went wonky(it took up half of the screen and the colors were weird), but I could edit the graphics options. I enabled 3D hardware. It had my AMD r9 200 series listed. I then selected 1920x1080x16, and checked all the boxes.

When It reloaded the screen the graphics corrected. So long as I don't select options from the first screen nothing seems to go wrong graphically. I can even edit the options from in game and nothing goes wrong.

As far as I can tell, from what is in the file, I just told it to use my graphics card by force.

You are a beautiful man! (apologies if you're actually a lady) I just tried this on my Surface 3 Pro and it worked like a charm. Change the IRenderPipeline and it plays movies, loads into the funky screen where you need to move your mouse in the black area a bit, update options to a decent resolution, reboot the game, and it's good. Only thing was on 1920x1080 the viewport was cutting off parts of the screen, so I switched it to 1024x768.

Tested this on Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows 10 Pro, both 64-bit and it works fine. Thank you!

Holy fucking shit, it works! (Win 10 Pro x64) Thank you very much.
How come GOG doesn't provide a fix if its as simple as changing someting in an .ini?

Give this person a cigar!

Though I haven't got this game on GOG nor do I have Windows 8 or 10, if more people confirm that this fixes it GOG should make this at least a sticky.
It's working here too! (Win10 Pro, nVidia GPU) Thank you!

After 2 years I can finally play, thanks mate ; )

On the off chance this doesn't work for someone, make sure you revert any other changes you made trying to get it to work. I had to before it would work for me.

If anyone has sound issues (movie sound working but game sound not working) this fixed it for me: http://www.moddb.com/mods/conquest-2-frontier-wars-forever/downloads/all-codec-for-cfw-and-c2-vu

For convenient fix the problem, I did the patch.

Patch for Conquest: Frontier Wars that fixes the problem run of the game in Windows 8 / 10:

Hey MrPopo, how'd you get yours to work on the SP3? I've tried numerous times to get the resolution to change but it keeps kicking back to windows. Sometimes I can get into the options but changes don't seem to take effect. Or are you changing the resolution from the .ini file? Thanks for your help :)
