Close Combat 5 from GOG

- Includes 5.01 patch

- Includes hotfix that I presume changes the Operation "KG Müller" to "KG Muller". This is extremely problematic for all CC5 mods. All CC5 mods move the file KG Müller which is now not found in the GOG version. This will cause your mod install to fail on GOG versions. At this point, none of the major mods will work for GOG CC5 because of this. The mods require a manual edit of the install.txt and uninstal.txt files.

Use this example to modify your install.txt file. Within Windows Explorer (windows key+E) Navigate to CC5 CfgMgr\System\Packages\GJSv44 and find the install.txt file. Edit the file using Notepad. Find all mentions of the name Müller and replace with Muller.

Next, you must modify your uninstal.txt file located in the same directory. Edit the file using Notepad. Find all mentions of the name Müller and replace with Muller.

- Installs CC5 to the default folder C:\GOG Games\Close Combat 5. This is problematic as it makes no registry entry that Config Manager will use. To fix this run regedit.exe and navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Mattel Interactive\Close Combat\5.00. The String Value of "Installed to" is left as a "." change that string value to "C:\GOG Games\Close Combat 5" and Config Manager will recognize where CC5 is.

I have tested these fixes myself and successfully ran GJS under GOG CC5. The registry fixes above tend to be very similar to CC3 and CC4.

Thanks a lot!

I've been struggling with this for days!

Tested GJS and Stallingrad with sucess. Had a CTD when opening a campaign in Stalingrad but I guess something is not right there.
Does anyone have a copy of the Fall Sverige mod? The on available at http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Content&pa=list_pages_categories&cid=12 has broken links.

Looks like this mod project was abandoned in 2006 and the files removed from CCS at that time. The author (AT_Stalky) states elsewhere that it isn't worth playing as the maps are not representative, that it is badly coded and there are other minor errors. He said that it would only be worth playing if v2.0 was ever released which it was not afaik.

I've done everything as Moose says but in the end I get "can't find videos" error. What should I do?
Solution from close combat series page doesn't help either

EDIT: Ok, I fixed this, videos folder should be dragged out from data to game directory

failed to copy system packages\cc5abtf 1.05\cc5.exe toc\ program files\ ssi\close combat invasion Normandy\cc5.exe beacuase system packages\cc5abtf 1.05\cc5.exe does not exist

can anyone help ?
I don't know if anyone reads this but i can't find the install.txt and uninstall.txt file can anyone help me find their locations?
It loads to a black screen and tells me it requires a cd rom- im unsure of where to go from here now
Copy the Videos folder from CC5/Data/Videos into the main CC5 directory and the videos error will go away.

It should be CC5/Videos instead of CC5/Data/Videos

Anybody knows how to solve this?

EDIT: I think I solved it.

If you can play "plain" unmoded version from GOG, but after installing a mod you get "no cd-rom" message, here is what you need to do:

1. Backup your CC5.exe file BEFORE installing any mod (make sure it's working)
2. Install mod
3. Use hex editor (I used HxD, it's free) and compare both modded CC5.exe and your backup CC5.exe
4. In my case there was only one difference between the files somewhere in the beginning (dont remember which line, sorry), and a lot of added lines in the very end.
5. Modify modded CC5.exe from your game directory to have the same values in line as your backup CC5.exe (ignore last lines that are extra in modded exe file and empty in unmodded)

any help with this?

"unable to open file for streaming" any possible help with this?

edit:
thing is that the videos file CANNOT remain empty and has to contain the videos in close combat 5/data/videos

Big thanks to Mooxe for the solution to getting mods work in GOG version of CC5!!!

Part of the reason of purchasing GOG CC5 was the big range of mods available, so more game value

If someone is interested in CC5 multiplayer (with/without mods) add me on GameRanger with nick 'attep'

For all the Folks here who have problems with the "NO CD-Rom"

I have a ISO Image of Close Combat 5, use it with Daemon Tools and the Mods will work. I will Edit this Post later, I'll upload the ISO to Google
