The journal used to be cut off. Is it gone?

I can see the journal but it is a bit cut off on the top of the screen.

I had this same issue with my old boxed version and never found a fix for it. :(
The only solution or partial is to either play a non-widescreen resolution or accept 4:3 ratio for a modern, high resolution with nGlide. 1440x1080 works great in nGlide for me but it's a pity widescreen doesn't work correctly.
I use D3D and set it to 1280x1024 32 bit color and let my video card auto-scaling take over. Looks fine.

Check your journal, can you read it entirely or is a part cut off?

I've noticed in 1920 x 1080 his weapons go way close to the screen as well as the journal getting cut off, maybe both of these are in the same group. I've tried FOV and it doesn't affect the weapons is there anything that affects the vertical scaling?

Then 1280x1024 is small enough it's not an issue. It's possible that it happens for resolutions that uses widescreen after 1600x1200 as that's the highest 4:3 that I know of. I recall it happened to my 2006 22" monitor with 1680x1050.

I recall something about the weapons too but I'm not sure exactly what was suppose to happen, just that it wasn't working properly in widescreen.

PixelPerfect@Did you change both numbers for the FOV? It says in the link you need to change two lines, desired and default. Maybe then something happens.

I followed your lead and am using 1280x1024 as well. Using 1080p produced the nasty journal cut off, so it wasn't feasible. Sticking with 90 FOV. This combined with the (modest) texture update makes a game that's already stood the test of time well (it's honestly one of the better looking games from the aughties) even better. This is my first time playing the game and I'm seriously impressed with the detail and imagination the devs were able to cram into the Unreal tech at the time.

So the cut-off journal in widescreen issue was not fixed? That is most disappointing.
I found this little program: Unreal Tournament Package Tool

I threw in a couple of textures to see how it looks but I'm not experienced with this kind of thing so I wondering if anyone else could take a look. I was hoping that if we could find the journal one could perhaps change something that wouldn't make a journal cut off at higher resolutions.
