If you are stuck with "noname" profile and are unable to change it with the "change player" button within the main menu (I think it's broken anyway), here is the trick :
1. Navigate to your Celtic Kings folder (usually under "X:\Program Files\GOG.com\Celtic Kings - Rage of War")
2. Open "profiles" folder, you should have a "noname" folder and a "profiles" config file(.ini)
3. Edit "profiles" config file with notepad (or even better with notepad++)
4. Change value "default=profiles/noname" into your new name, save and close file
5. Open "noname" folder, then edit "player" config file (should be the only one)
6. Under "[Player]" change value "name=noname" into your newly profile name, then under "[Player 0]" change value "plrname=noname" into... guess what... your new name...wow. Save and close file
Voilà, you're now longer a nameless roman crushing warrior.

What OS are you playing this game on and if its vista/win7 did you run it as an administrator? If its trying to write things to program files such as your name and your using one of those OS's without admin permission it won't be possible.

I'm using Vista and am the admin, but the button "change player" in the main menu is broken (by this I mean I can't edit the profile neitheir can I add a new one, I only have a window with my profile name, thus I have to manually change just like I explained it in the previous post).
So I thought this could help someone... But it seems I'm the only one with this kind of problem... which is rather strange.
I 'll be glad to know how you managed to changed your profile !

The fact that you're on an admin account doesn't mean the .exe you're running has permission to write/edit on every file/folder on your system.
Even on an admin account if you're installing stuff to 'Program Files', you should run everything 'as admin'; installers, patches, and the shortcut to the executables once stuff is installed.
This is for Vista and Win7 only, XP is a different ball game.
I just installed Celtic Kings and to change profile all i had to do was click on 'Change Player', then i cicked on 'New' at the bottom and typed in the name for a new profile.
I'm on an admin account and i have the 'Run as Admin' ticked on the shortcut.

That is what I did :
-tick run as admin box in the icon properties
-authorize everyone (and I really mean everyone) access to write, read and change whatever it has to change, under authorization tab
-do the same for the icon in start>programs (which is the one I use, never use desktop icons)
And wonder what ? Still no luck... I even checked the damn logs within the Celtic Kings folder to see if there was an error loading a file... But no chance at all.
But the whole point of this was an explanation on how I managed to modify the profile, and I assure you there is no "new" button within the "change player" window, so that's why I think it's a broken link somewhere in the code.
But anyway, thanks for your feedback ! I greatly appreciated it.
edit : the only drawback I'm affraid of is by manually editing the .ini file, I might have broke the statistic window in the main menu : the playing time is still on 0hours though I've played for some times, but then again this may also be a bug in the code)

Yes, i understood that you managed to change it. I was just wondering if you were missing something, and i guess you are because there are definitely buttons below the 'Change Player' window.

Wow, then my installation is pretty f*cked up ! I have none of these buttons, only the profile name and that's all.
Can I ask you BTW to tell me how did you take an in-game screenshot ? Did you use "print screen" key or do you use a software ? So that I can send you my profile.
Thanks

In this instance i used Print Screen and pasted the image on Paint, but usually i use FRAPS.
I'm guessing you're on a big monitor with a big resolution, right ?
Try this, before starting the game change the resolution of your desktop to 1024X768. Don't forget to change back to your native resolution after playing Celtic Kings.
And the statistics thing, you probably broke it by messing with the .ini files...

It works ! I forgot to check the Celtic kings.exe one (the smaller one, I thought It was the Celtic Kings.exe but the shortcut points to the small one) and now I have indeed the buttons under the window !
You sir win the internet ! Thank you so much for you help.
Maybe reinstalling the game and running the installer as an admin might help as well? I'm just thinking some of the data may not have been written properly if it didn't have permission.
Edit: nevermind, I need to refresh before posting it seems.
