Here's an odd one for you - I just picked this one up, and while the game launches and for the most part plays without any issues, for some reason whenever I try to enter the "Options" menu, whether from the title screen or in-game menu, the game freezes and I have to use Task Manager to close it down. If I avoid Options, everything else - combat, saving, you name it - seems to work fine, but if I attempt to tweak anything I get stuck. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm on Windows 10, integrated Intel graphics, if that helps. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Wish I had an answer for you but here's a bump because...

I'm experiencing the exact same issue! On Win 7 64 bit, non-integrated graphics. Odd!

*edit to add - you don't happen to have your OS and the game location on different partitions do you?

I have it saved on my C drive along with the rest of my games, do you think there's an issue in there someplace?

Nope not at all - I have mine on a partition and was hoping that if you did as well that might be a possible cause of the problem :(

Curious about this one!
I have the same problem, too. The options menu is a black screen and I can't go back once I'm there, so all I can do is listening to the music or close the game using Alt+F4.
I tried installing the game multiple times now, but it didn't help.
Well, after some wild clicking, I close the game in the options with Alt+F4 after triggering the windowed mode with Alt+Enter and somehow that changed something, because after a new start I noticed that the windowed mode automatically adjusts to 720p size instead of keeping the screen full and just show the border of the window. So I at least have a nice windowed mode now :)
But to change the keys I still need the options menu or is there another way? The games has no typical config file.

Edit:
Thanks to GOG Galaxy I manually "rolled back" to older versions of the game, starting with 1.05. In this version, the options menu works perfectly and then I tried the first of the two 1.0.11 versions and there it worked, too! It's only the latest version that seems to have the crash.

Here are the patch notes I copied:

Patch 1.0.11 (15 October 2015)
Upgraded to Unity 5.2.1
Fixed input complications with Xbox One Controller and Windows 10
Fixed several dialogue entries
Fixed an accessory giving inappropriate SP in combat when taken off

There seems to be the error, I suspect the controller complications, but that's for other people to decide.
I just wanted to tell you, that you can downgrade the game, even though Galaxy has to download it again. For me, the possibility to change the controller keys is totally worth it.
Another solution would be to wait until the error is fixed or something like that. I hope I could help you somehow.

Thanks for the heads-up on the earlier version not having that issue; if the devs don't fix it at least that's an option.

I'm having the same issue (I have a Vista machine), but I have neither Galaxy, nor an older install file available, so I guess I'll have to hope they release a patch to fix this issue.
Same here on Mac OS X. What is in the options section by the way? Since I can't access options due to black screen I wonder what the options you are to be able to change actually are? Is there a difficulty setting in this game? I hope not...
I use Ubuntu so I thought it was a stupid access permission problem with the game's storage folder, because the game was running as myself and maybe trying to access a root-only folder, but I guess if people with other OSes have that problem, it could be something else...

EDIT: btw, related to the above, at which point in the game can you save and where are the save game files located?

EDIT2: Ok, it is in the documents section.

Anyone actually tell support about this? It would increase the chance of it being fixed.

I also encounter such similar issues whenever I tried going to the options menu, seeing only a black screen and couldn't go back to the main menu. This all happened after I applied the latest patch to the game. The previous version doesn't have this sort of issue. Hope the developers will be able to make a fix to this problem soon...

If you only recently purchased this game and didn't have the previous installers, try using Galaxy and revert it to the previous version something like Patch 1.05 and not the latest one like Veoryascaleth suggested as that would be the only way the option available at the moment in resolving the issue. It might take a while before a new update would be released.
So I'm not the only one.
Looks like it's the dev's job to fix that.
Same problem here (Win8.1 64-bit)
Same here, running Archlinux.
I'm also having the same issue. Running Windows 10.
