It is a Logictech 3d Pro,and when I try to configure it in Carmageddon, nothing happens. I move my joystick to the upper left and press a button and nothing happens.Any sollutions?
ANd yes, I checked my Joystick works fine. I tried it in Red Baron 1,a GOG game that uses DOSBOX, and it worked fine.

Have you more than one joystick installed?
If so, unplug all accept the one you wish to use and try again.

I only have one Gamepad plugged in and it doesn't recognize it at all. Of course it's a 360 Gamepad, so that might be the problem. I guess I could try with a different one.

Just tried with a Gamepad that supports DirectInput. Same issue. Doesn't seem to recognize anything USB. Might have to use Xpadder.

Hmm, I just opened dosboxCARMA.conf and there is no joystick section at all.., weird.

You could try copy this and paste it between the [sblaster] and [glide] sections.
Use notepad for this.

[joystick]
joysticktype=auto
timed=false
autofire=false
swap34=false
buttonwrap=false

If you play the 3Dfx version you have to edit dosboxCARMA3dfx.conf and if you play the Splatpack version you have to edit those .conf files.
You might also want to backup those files before you make changes.

I'm playing Carma95. May have to use Xpadder.

By the way have you calibrated your joystick within Carmageddon?

> start Carmageddon

> Joystick

> follow onscreen calibration instructions

Apparently you did not read my original post. When I try to calibrate within the game, nothing happens.

Just got a email from GOG support saying they could not get USB joysticks or controls to work with the game.
Let me know how you do with X Padder in the WIN 95 version. i don't have X padder and want to be sure it works with Carmeggedon before I pay Ten Bucks for X Padder.

On the win95 version I use my Xbox360 wireless game pad with no problems. Don't even need to calibrate. However it seems to only recognize the 4 letter buttons and the left stick.
Anyway when configuring you controls just click on turn left, move stick to the left, viceverse for right.
I got it working with Xpadder "flawlessly", but the steering is digital, as in I only emulated the numpad with the left analogue stick. Works well enough if you don't care that much about analogue steering, don't think it's so important for a game like this.

Perhaps I'll try to make it work with a combination of Xpadder (so I can use the triggers for accelerating and breaking), and the built-in gamepad support so that I can get the analogues working as well, but I think the deadzone might be a problem for the X360 pad. Don't think you can set the deadzone in the game.

xpadder version 5.3 was the last free version and can be found online as a free download. If running this older version on Windows 7, set the compatibility options as shown in the attached pic.

If you need a layout suggestion here is a link to a decent xpadder profile.

My dad can't even get xpadder to work. it recognized his controller, we mapped all the buttons, but it won't do anything in-game. Using xpadder 5.3, running windows 7 64 bit. xpadder's running in XP SP2 mode.
nevermind. resolved
I've got it semi-sorta working without Xpadder. I'm using a Logitech RumblePad 2 USB but like another user here it only recognizes the D-pad and the 4 buttons.

Could you post the solution?
Thanks Strijkbout your solution worked perfectly. The only problem is that it only recognizes my gamepad as a 4 button when its a 13 button. Is there any way to get the use of some of those buttons back or is this a hard coded limitation?
