When I go to configure controls and try and enter in certain keys the game makes s noise and does not enter in the key . WASD and even up arrow right, left and down do not work. This sucks any ideas?

Are you trying to change the movement/direction controls? If so, the manual says:

"If for any reason you try to assign a function to a key which cannot be altered, you will be aurally informed."

Seems like it may not be possible to change certain keys. :/

Take a look for what files to change, and [url=http://www.gog.com/forum/carmageddon_series/how_to_binding_keys_in_carmageddon_2/post1]here for the values needed. It is possible to change them, even without using DOSBox's mapper function.
