I bought the game during the "pick 5" promo. Unfortunately, unlike others, this game refuses to launch. After trying tto launch the game, I'm getting a black screen, and shorty after the game quits without any error messages.

My PC runs Vista 32-bit. The game is NOT installed in C:\Program Files (because installing games there sometimes may cause problems).

I'm getting a similar problem where after trying to launch the game I get a black screen that never goes away. I can't alt-tab, ctrl-alt-delete, or anything but restart my computer for that matter.

The only curious part is that I fell asleep after this happened (was letting downloads finished before I restart) and to my surprise when I woke up it had launched. It took more than an hour to launch though because I made something to eat and watched an episode of a show and checked on it afterwards, before falling asleep.

Sadly I did not switched to windowed mode or anything, nor can I find an .ini file anywhere.

Well I let the game load up again, this time it only sat at the black screen for about 10-15 minutes and I switched to windowed mode. After exiting and restarting the game it loaded right into windowed mode.
Funny thing is I switched to full screen and restarted the game again and, lo and behold, it starts up fine.

On an unrelated note; If the rest of the soundtrack is anything like the opening/menu... we're in for a real treat.
I got capsized in the same sale. I just installed it and I'm having the same problem with it not loading
it will go to a black screen for a few seconds then go back to the desktop, sometimes it will change the resolution of my screen for a bit then change back. but i never see a menu

I'm running windows xp 32 bit
2 gb ram
128 mb video
(yes, i know my computer is awful)
Well, it may have been the firewall. I am using COMODO. Once I set the firewall to accept Capsized it now appears to work fine. What firewall are y'all using?

I never had any of these issues. Running Win 7.

As for firewall, I just use windows firewall and Avast Antivirus.
Checked my Norton Internet Security (firewall), allowed Capsized in rules. But the game still does not work.
Same problem here, Capsized launches as a black screen, then crashes without an error message a few seconds later. Running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 600m.

Same problem. I try to launch the game, and it instantly crashes.I don't even get a black screen, just Windows asking me if I want to let it run, then and then an instant message telling me it crashed.

Windows 8.1, 4GB Ram, Intel i3 (2.0, 2,0 Ghz) processor.

I'd try and email GOG support, but those guys are less than useless and never respond to anything.

Same thing under Windows 10 - it just gives the loading hourglass for a second, and then a dialog box saying it's "stopped working".

I *had* it working, when my last computer was running W7, but this is the first time I've tried to get back to it for about a year. It's...somewhat frustrating.

I feel you, my man. I STILL haven't gotten it to run. :(
if anyone's looking at this in the future:

installing XNA Framework Redistributable 3.1 did it for me.

Hi, running Window 10 here. The game was "stop working" when I try to start it.
I installed XNA Framework Redistribuable 3.1 and everything is fine since that.
Thanks a lot noidgoten!
Hey folks,
I'm having he exact same problem trying to run the game in Windows XP! When I go to start it I get a black screen, hard drive is working as if loading and then the black clears up and I'm booted back at the desktop with no error messages. Really frustrating.

Has anyone found a way over this hurdle?
