Is anyone else having an intermittent cursor hang every 4 or 5 seconds? Maybe it's just me. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Okay, the stutter seems to be just in the menus. Once the game starts, it goes away. However, the game is really sluggish. The cursor moves like it's in molasses and the scroll speed is terrible. My PC has plenty of power. Just seems like a bad port of the game.

So is anyone else having speed issues with this game?

I'm getting this too, but I DON'T get it in the menus and only on the main map screen. If I hit ESC, then the cursor moves fine. My cursor barely responds, though, so the lag is much more pronounced.

Same here. I wonder if there's something wrong with the mouse handling in-game.
Well, I've now tried it both on Windows 7 64-bit, and in Windows XP Mode. In Windows 7, the cursor behaves very laggily, whereas in XP Mode, the cursor jumps about 100 pixels for every pixel of input motion of my mouse. Also, it crashes after the opening video.
its not a cursor stutter.. its called lag...

I get lag on the main map, typically when I'm placing public works improvements, or sometimes when I'm giving a unit move orders over a distance.
I also get it in things like the city build menu. It's not constant, but semi-constant. I dropped from 1920x1200 to 16x12 to see if that would improve things. I think it did a little bit.
I'm running the game on Windows 7 32-bit. In the menus cursor is fine, but there's lag on the main map. I had this problem with non-GOG version of the game too. In Windows XP the game runs fine.
I think the problem is caused by CPU computing all the graphics instead of video card.
So no solution really? Is there any way I can get my money back and have it taken from my list? It's unplayable as is.
At least your game actually launches. Mine "encounters an error and must close" or just goes to a black screen with music playing and becomes "not responding."

if you have vista or win 7..uac disabled? if not maybe try disable it...
also "install" apolyton community patch/mod.. maybe it will make game run...
Hi, I have the same issue as well and fixed it by lowering the resolution. It seems for whatever reason, running it at a larger resolution caused major cursor issues but when I lowered it down to something reasonable it moved just fine. Weird but it seems to work.

Try the resolution lowering mentioned below.
Also, you should also check out the unofficial patch - among other (awesome) fixes and tweaks they have redid the rendering to remove the flicker, so it might help (CtP2 Apolyton Edition):

Anyone come up with a good solution for this yet?

I've tried reducing the resolution and adjusting mouse speed on the mouse and in the game.

I have to stop moving then I can move again or the cursor sticks. So this is not a "lag" issue.
I have it too. I tried lowering the resolution, but it did not help much. I noticed that if you move mouse fast, lag gets worse. I increased scrolling speed in game and it reduced the problem, not solved it though. Cursor still lags, but not so much, so I can play the game better.
