I have the original disc version of Broken Sword: The Angel of Death and it always annoyed me that it is the only game I have which refuse to launch because I have no pagefile. With 16GB of RAM I really shouldn't need to have a pagefile to launch the game either as the only thing they do is to slow down the system with extra hard drive activity. I can play far more RAM hungry games without any problems.

Anyway, I wonder if this silly pagefile check has been removed from the GOG version? I would be very grateful if someone who bought the game could turn off the pagefile and check it for me. If it works without a pagefile I will happily buy the game again :-)

This might be a stupid question but, uh, why do you not use a pagefile?
Bump :p
GOG version has been patched to latest update, though i don't know whether it has something to do with pagefile or not.

If you still have the disc, you can apply this official patch, it's same as GOG version. See if it make difference or not:

the revoulution patch only fixed the black out characters for dual core/multicore machines on the dvd version, I beleive the gog version has already been patched

I just installed it and tried to run it, and it instantly complained about me not having a page file. I have no intention of turning it on either, so I can only hope this is getting patched. However seeing as you posted this question over a year ago, I'm thinking it won't.

For average user it doesn't really matter if it's turned on or off, it doesn't really improve performance much if you disable it. But I think that your only option is to turn it on if you want to play BSIV and then disable it again once you have finished playing.
