Smoking Mirror appears to be yet another GOG game that doesn't work on Mac M1.

It's a 32-bit Intel app, so Rosetta won't work.

It's a Mac native app (when installed from GOG), so I can't use the M1-compatible DosBox either.

Does anyone know if there is any way to play this game on a modern MacBook?

Similarly, I can't play Broken Sword Director's Cut on Intel Mac Mini (2019) Mac OS Monterey, it just doesn't load

Same here. Macbook M1. The game doesn't start. I read about the 32-bit support but... any solution? Thank you.

Same problem here with Broken Sword Director's Cut.. I installed GOG Galaxy and downloaded the game but when I hit play nothing happens. Any solution?

I just tried today with the original broken sword on my M1..... doesn't work either. I'm guessing that there's never going to be a legit solution but maybe someone will find a tacky but practical workaround one day
I’ve managed to run the original game iso (extracted an original cd copy) on an M1 Air using Scummvm. Not sure how you’d do it with the game direct from GOG though. Probably worth a shot if anyone is still looking for a solution to this
