Hey everyone! A bit delayed news (my bad), but hotfixes 3 & 4 for Breath of Fire IV are live. Here are the changelogs:

1.0 hotfix3 changelog:

- Fixed higher than expected CPU utilization (thanks Xeshra for the feedback)

1.0 hotfix4 changelog:

- Fixed audio engine inaccurate panning (noticeable in the opening cutscene)

Are there any plans to fix the button display in game only showing keyboard shortcuts?

Are there plans to fix the remaining audio looping and reverb issues? Thank you :)
Can confirm my high CPU utilization is gone!

Here's hoping we can get a couple more updates that address the remaining few requests / issues :)
Woah, maybe now I can play this? Because it makes no sense that my set up can't play a 22 year old game while I run stuff released a couple of years ago. Pretty crazy this game came out as a high demand CPU item.
Good stuff. Really hope the on-screen button prompts and music reverb/looping issues can be addressed as well!
Yes, the major issues are gone for me.

CPU is fine now and graphic is good too.

Gamepad support got a flaw because if 2 pads are connected only one of those pads may become detected and the other will fail to work or become unstable. Perhaps this issue can as well happen if there are to many USB devices connected. The wrapper in theory should increase compatibility and detection but for me... it does not matter if the input-wrapper is active or not, the detection only works if there is only a single pad attached. The detection, in such a case, works even without the wrapper.

Most games are able to detect any pad input and are setting a pad which got a input as "active", so it does not matter if there is more than one attached. If there are several pads possible there is either a setting or it will ask for a certain order, but only a minority of games got this option.

I did not detect many other issues. Perhaps audio is still not perfect but it is not worse, simply not completely fixed yet.

A open wish is indeed if there could be the correct buttons attached, but there are so many pads out there... it may only be realistic with a Playstation and a Xbox-Pad.

This would be a good improvement.

Sometimes it's a bit difficult to play with a controller, because I need to remember which key corresponds to which button...

They listened and even credited you. :)
.
Okay, then i guess i should bring up my concerns another time:

Issues still not solved yet:

1. Gamepad vibration is not working. In general improving pad support.

2. In the original there are 2 memory card slots with 15 saves each, on the PC-GOG version only slot 1 is enabled.

3. Some audio issues (reverb, loops), but most of those should be fixed by now.

4. Attachment of proper pad icons, at least for Xbox and Playstation-version.

The CPU update's really good, but I'm still getting lots of slowdowns, at least where I am right now (Dam, Kyria)
I wonder if it's the port that lags that much or still some things that need solving
I dunno what CPU you got but as long as it got more than 2 cores it should be fine. I am not that far into the game but on my modern high end PC i was not able to detect any performance issues or high loads anymore.

I am not even sure if Capcom was providing a proper gamepad support for their original PC port. Because most likely it was a rather "loveless port" in order to make the PC gamers happy. So, perhaps there was no pad vibration support enabled and in general, the game did not seem to be very stable; reason GOG had to make a good amount of bug fixing on many spots. But the result is pretty good now and i hope even more improvements are possible.

I only can say, on the PSX-original the pad had vibration and 2 working memory slots, and of course nothing was visibly "broken" (perhaps barely noticeable minor bugs). In my mind the PC version initially was never "on the same level" but it can be improved to this level, with a good amount of work. Because a PC version can be modded the easiest way, it would then become the "directors cut", if those stuff was able to become addressed.
