Hey everyone! Happy to tell you that we've just released a hotfix (thanks to your feedback) for Breath of Fire IV that now lets you experience the game in a PSX-like style, making the gorgeous pixel art stand out even more :)

To achieve this, we’ve added two new rendering options: “Point sampled” and “Bilinear”. For the best results, we recommend choosing the “Point sampled” option combined with the “Integer scaling” method.

1.0 hotfix2 changelog:

- Added new rendering options: Point sampled and Bilinear texture filtering.

Hope you enjoy!
To all else: Specifically it's in the GOG additional executables section for Direct X Configuration

Aside: GOG, you guys have the most dogshit attach images functionality: no bigger than 500KB and it doesn't accept PNG or JPEG - the two most common image types, AND you can't post links to even help people out in situations like this.

We appreciate it, but what's with all these folks on YT who already got the wrapper and have videos of it up well before we get it? That's kinda offputting.

Anyway...much better than the vaseline sprites. Kudos.

Pic 1....Point Sampled filtering (pixels)
Pic 2 ...Bilinear filtering (vaseline)
Pic 3 ...DXWrapper

I've yet to see GOG ever do it before, but some scanlines would absolutely seal the deal so to speak.

It definitely does accept PNG and JPG...the 500kb limit can be a pain though to be sure. if you can't post links....use the properly formatted BBCode of QUOTE with the link you want to post followed by the closing tag.

like so

I double checked across browsers - Chrome and Firefox, both files were below the 500KB limit and both times it told me the file was the wrong format, very odd - it also told me no links, but I'll try using the [url] block instead of the [img] one

Really wished they can fix the lack of reverb. Ugh. Sorry but the flat audio just ruins the immersion.

If you want scanlines, give ShaderGlass a try. It's a desktop overlay and has made the visuals in the game glorious, plus you can tweak the filters to your liking if you don't like any of the default settings.

Windows 10 (not sure about 11) save the extensions in CAPs (at least for me), hence xxxx.PNG. But GOG only accepts lower case some reason, like xxxx.png for example. So try manually changing the extension from PNG to png and see if you can upload it again.
.
I am not seeing the option to change to point sampled. I updated the game to the latest hotfix2. Am I missing something?

You have to use the GOG launcher and go to Additional Executables >> DirectX settings

annoying, I know

Then I don't know. I'm losing more and more faith that this port gets fixed.

Looks like there is a dxcfg.ini file. Can you share what you have? I am curious if I can just add the option to the ini file.

Here is what mine says:
[general]
display=desktop
presentation=windowed
aspect=enabled
scaling=fit
vsync=application
gamma=1.0

[enhancements]
filtering=application
antialiasing=application

[additional]
fpslimit=0
clipcursor=true
dialogs=0
singleprimary=false
watchprimary=false
devlostwait=false
[dxcfg]
display=desktop
presentation=application
aspect=enabled
scaling=fit
vsync=application
gamma=1.0
anisotropic=af_16x
antialiasing=msaa_8x

But what about the musics? You need to fix that too, by replacing with the PSX versions.

This, a thousand times, please fix the flat audio, it breaks the immersion.

I haven't tested it since two days ago, the game in its current state makes it difficult to play. I'm waiting for a patch for the sound.
