kakiss4: I asked some time ago in the Forums of an italian fan group that translated the PSX Version into Italian, as i the Files are pretty the same, "just" in a different format, but it seems that it will be a harder task as thought.
As an example:
The PC Versions of BOF III and IV use in the BGM Files MP3s for the Music, the PSX Games use their own Files, as the Sound Chip of the PSX will generate the Music.
(You can see the same with the PC Release of Final Fantasy VII, here they used Midi instead and it sounds quite different, guess thats why they went with MP3 in BOF).
The same will be with Sprites and other Data.
After some tinkering and digging, all the Text seems to be backed into the "AREA" Files, so taking it out the PSX File Format and just put it into a PC Package is harder as thought.
For what I've seen in the BoF4 PC port files, the texts in AREA files have the same structure as in the PS1 version. Just not the same addresses, but that's the same difference between different PS1 versions.
And the PC version of BoF3 have the same file structure of BoF4 so it would not be so different than translating the PC version of BoF 4, i guess.
Problem is, a translation needs a lot of work, and also money if you want the job to be done by good pro translators (and I put the emphasis to GOOD, since the french version of BoF3 PS1 was a mess...).
And translating the game would be the easy part compared to the biggest problem of the Chinese PC version: it is severely buggy, the kind of bugs that causes crashes and corrupted saves. So a major work of fixing these bugs would be needed in order to have a decent PC version of Breath of Fire 3. And without the source code it would take a loooooooooong time.
Honestly, it would be easier to ask Capcom to redo the PC port of BoF3 for international audience (and, why not, remake the entire series while they're at it).
