I didn't expect the game to impress me so quickly, but it did. Within half hour of playing it, I'm giggling like a little girl at the action on the screen and enjoying every minute of the lovable creatures journey.

With all this violence in gaming, and destruction, it's massively refreshing to play something like this.
Yes, I agree.....I'm loving it so far. The cute sound effects, the great artwork, the clever little puzzles and humorous bits and pieces. The game is awesome-sauce. :D

The art especially is outstanding, which is high praise considering mancharium holds the longest time I used desktop wallpapers, out of well anything. Consistently brilliant art design.
Beautiful art and music. Great game!
I wrote in my review for my seldom-updated gaming blog that this game is like my little zen dojo. I come home from work and play and it just puts me at peace. I've got an ever-widening smile on my face the whole time and I feel a sense of tranquility. It makes me laugh more than most games that try WAY harder too.

It's just the type of game that is pure enjoyment to me. The puzzles aren't that hard, but I don't feel like that's the point. The point isn't to frustrate the player, it's to draw them into this wonderful world Amanita have created. It's also refreshing to play a game that isn't about killing everything, but more about creation and the beauty of nature - at least that's what I take from it. YMMV.
Am I really the only one disappointed player? I found the game nice to see and hear, but at the end boring. It is just running around and clicking randomly.

This was the feeling when I first played, but I think the problem is I was expecting a point'n'click adventure. Once I tried forgetting my expectation I think the game might be nice, but it is a actually and interactive movie. I think it is actually the only interactive movie game I ever enjoyed.

It is an adventure game, just a very easy one :P
I think it's a masterpiece.

Games are usually fun to play, but they seldom make you feel happy. That's what Botanicula does.
This game was the first one which makes me happy while playing.
I laughed a lot watching little creatures moving around.
One of the best point-and-click style game.

I think the secret is to think of it as more of a "child-like exploration game", if you know what I mean. Just clicking on things and discovering what they do and such.

This game really is a delight. I loved the animation and the music. Rarely does a game make me grin like this one did, and to think that this is only a "simple" flash game. I was very impressed with this game. Amanita Design's first retail release, Machinarium, is also avaiable on gog. It's not as... Pixar-y as this game was, but the backgrounds were gorgeous, and the story was interesting.

I agree
Yes, this is the best game I played in 2012. Such wonderful design and characters, it did make me laugh and happy, and was a wonderfully immersive experience. I just wish that after 2 years amanita could come up with another wonderful game. After Machinarium and Botanicula anything they do would be worth instant purchase.
We've only put about half an hour into it, but so far the 5 and 6 year olds are loving it. They keep making the silly "human mouth" bug noises as they run around playing other things.

"Bingbingbing!"
"Blblblbblblbllbzzzzz!"
"Boop!"

The only thing we struggle with is how to pronounce it. We've settled on bot-a-NICK-yoo-la, because bo-TAN-ic-yoo-la is too hard to say.

So many possibilities... it's always been BOT-ah-nick-YOU-la for me, with secondary stress on the "you".
