Good morning.

I recently bought Blitzkrieg Anthology (1, Burning Horizon and Rolling Thunder) online from Steam, knowing beforehand the risk of having compatibility issues with the Windows 10 Home 64bit on my computer, given that it is XP based software.

Accordingly :(, I HAVE been experiencing constant crashes, with, essentially, processor usage skyrocketing to a full 100% after around 30 to 45 mins of play, and the end result of a frozen screen.

I am actually using this set of fixes:

Executing in compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP3)
Setting affinity to the "0" core of the processor (Pentium R G3250 3.20Ghz Dual Core)
Using 16-bit reduced color mode
Running the software as Administrator
Disabling display scaling on high DPI settings
Including the entire package as Data Execution Prevention exceptions
But with a couple of crashes last night just when I thought everything was finally right, I don't what else to do...

By the way, GPU is Intel® HD Graphics.

Sounds similar to the problem I had (before I gave up on it): https://www.gog.com/forum/blitzkrieg_series/blitz_1_slows_to_a_crawl

Mine was with Win7, not Win10. I should give it another go now that I have Win10 on a new laptop, see if I get the same difficulties. Note that I did not apparently try the core affinity test, though I did see that suggested in another early thread.
It doesn't work on Win10.No way to launch it there.

Lads, try this combo of measures:

- Execute in compatibility mode for Windows XP ([b]SP2, not 3)

- Set affinity to the "0" core of the processor (mine's a Pentium R G3250 3.20Ghz Dual Core)

- Use 16-bit reduced color mode

- Run software as Administrator

- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings

- Include the entire package (Game launcher, map editor and reseditor) as a Data Execution Prevention exception. If running Anthology, include all 3 versions (B1, BH and RT). You should end up with 9 exceptions then.

- If you use Steam or some other online platform, run the game directly from the PC; disable all instances of said platform immediately after launch.

- Close all other applications before launch and during play time.

So far, game has been working beautifully, with no freezes or crashes; long play time, lots of instructions given, very big maps running smoothly, biggest mods deployed without even a glitch...

To me, it seems that I found the answer.

I just ran the compatibility finder... It seems to have worked.
