Hello,

General specs of my computer are (will provide more if needed):

-Intel i7 - 4770K CPU
-16 GB DDR3 RAM
-Windows 7 Ultimate - 64-bit
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 770

Installed the game on my main drive (SSD) into my GoG folder. Everything seems to be proceeding fine. However, when starting up the program, nothing visible happens. The only telltale sign the program ran was that the process uses all my remaining CPU power. No error messages pop up, not even a black screen - it is as if I did not run the program at all.

Using Task Manager, I try to check to see if it is running in the background. Technically, something does. The program starts up rundll32.exe and keeps going (I interrupt the program after 5 minutes). In the Applications tab, nothing shows.

While I do not think it is due to the Video trick, I try renaming the folder as well as changing the .mpg file into .avi. Same result. Messing around with some of the compatability settings do not cause the program to run either. I tried messing with the Nglide_config application but I am not familiar with it enough to know if I am using it correctly.

Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

I don't know if this applies to your problem, but recently, I have to start the game two times for it to run. The first time it doesn't register it much. I think it's something with the latest Galaxy patch.

Unfortunately, the game does not start up to any screen. The only thing that tells me the program ran is increase in CPU activity (and by extension, the upshot in CPU temps). My first post on this matter is when I first installed and started up this game so I do not know if the most recent patch has any effect on the game.

However, thank you for providing your perspective on this. Among other things, it is good to try other options to see if it will provide a solution.
Having asked around in another forum, I found a solution and will post here for posterity.

I have updated Nglide to the most recent version (2.10 as of this post). I am uncertain if this actually helped.

The solution:
However, after starting up "Blade.exe" (in the Blade of Darkness folder or you can use the shortcut if you prefer), I ran it a second time in quick succession. This allowed me to go to the start up menu and run the game from there.

That's it.

I have not played around for more than a few minutes but it seems ok thus far. Keep in mind that you do need to turn off the other "Blade.exe" program in Task Manager when you exit the game. It seems to be a CPU-resource hog.

Will update further if there are some issues of note.

Here is my post on another forum if anyone wants to review in detail (as the person that provided the solution may offer additional help).

Edit: Having read what you stated a few more times, I just realized that you were giving me the exact same answer I stumbled upon. I am not sure why I did not see this. Thank you again.
