i can't save at all using the Steam version and I'm wondering if that's fixed using the GOG version.

Works without a problem here on my Gog version...when the loading screen displays after you have picked a B2/R save to load, after a few seconds a "press SPACE to continue" message displays on the page--I mention that because if you don't press the spacebar when you see that I'm guessing it will just sit there and not load the game...;) Hopefully, you aren't doing that, eh? Can't imagine something as fundamental as save not working in the Steam version. Hopefully you have verified your files with Steam and then deleted and reinstalled the Steam version if that didn't work?

At any rate, the GOG version of B2/R has no problem loading or saving that I have yet seen. Great games--hope you get it worked out...;)
Thanks for the info. The save game issue is well documented and many possible solutions are all over other forums. I just couldn't get any to work. I will pick these two games up again for sure just to play through the second.

If you're getting the "Disk Full" error message, do the following:

In your Documents folder:

- Create a folder, name it BioshockHD
- Double click into the folder
- Create a folder called Bioshock
- Double click into that folder
- Create a folder called SaveGames

Sorted the problem for me. Guessing a folder called Bioshock2 in BioshockHD will fix the other remaster as well.

I just bought and installed BS1 & 2 RM. Fired up BS1 and when the game auto-saved it showed and error message saying the game can't save. Didn't think anything of it until 10 minutes later when I went to manually save and it gave the same message. I exited the game completely, restarted, and tried to load my manual save and then the auto-save. It showed another error saying it couldn't load the saves. I google fu'd the hell out of this issue AFTER fixing the brightness slider not changing brightness (so dark it was unplayable). None of the fixes for the save/load issue worked. I browsed the BS1 folder in GOG Galaxy looking for the save game folder. I didn't find it before I came across an exe titled "BioshockHD". This is not the same as the desktop shortcut GOG made, which is labeled "BioShock Remastered". They have different ico images too. I sent the BioshockHD to my desktop and started the game. The load/save game works! The thing is, it's not running through GoG. I don't know what that's about but I'm glad I can play and utilize saves.

BTW, to fix the brightness slider: Right click on the BS shortcut -> click compatibility tab -> check box next to "Disable Full Screen Optimization".

Hope this helps

Ignore the above info about save game. It just stopped working again :/

Where have you got the game installed, is it in C\:Program Files or C\:Program Files (x86)? If so, try reinstalling somewhere else, for example C\:GOG Games. Stuff installed in Program Files can be temperamental at times. Another thing to check is whether your anti-virus programme has flagged it up which happens sometimes. If so, just set it to ignore the game.

If nothing else works, it might be worth contacting support. Hope this helps.

It's installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\BioShock Remastered. I'll try to move the install after a few more "fixes".
I'm trying this right now and will update if it works:
1) Go to your Bioshock Remastered file location (steam\steamapps\common\Bioshock 2 Remastered)
2) Inside Bioshock Remastered file, search "savepath" keyword using search function
3) There should be appear a Configuration Settings file called "Default"
4) Click into it
5) Use search function (Ctrl + F) to search "savepath" keyword again the find "SavePath= SaveGames"
6) Change it to "SavePath=C:\SaveGames" (change based on which drive u save the game)
7) Save it

BioshockHD.exe has already been excluded from my anti-virus.
Thanks for the feedback Pajama!

I moved the installation folder and it still will not load save after "Welcome To Rapture". The above steps didn't help either.

When you say you moved your installation folder do you mean you uninstalled and then reinstalled or just moved the folder across to somewhere different?

Also, you could try downloading the offline installers and then do a fresh install from them to somewhere other than Program Files. Another suggestion, make sure Galaxy is not running and then try starting the game directly from the game.exe and see if that helps. Good luck, I hope you get it running.
Hello,
After many months of waiting, I decided to download and install the game (My favorite) from epic games and first saw the "Could not Save" bug. My machine runs Windows 10.
But I have finally solved the problem. This is what I did:
1. Downloaded and install the game (Epic games). I installed it in D:\Games\...
2. Created a simple folder (For me it is C:\SaveGames).
3. Win + R (opens the "Run Program Or File" Window) and typed %appdata%.
4. There I found the folder My Games\Bioshock Epic HD\Bioshock and opened it.
5. I opened the file Bioshock.ini with the notepad.
6. Then Ctrl+F (Find) the word savepath.
7. You will see SavePath=SaveGames. Write SavePath=c:\SaveGames and save (where c:\Savegames the folder you created at the second step).
8. That's it. Simple.

Enjoy the game.

That really helped me out. Thanks for taking your time to write it down.
