for someone completely new? I dont know, the game can be difficult at times, and it took me about 4 years to finish it,( long story)

depends how long you adapt to things I guess.

Owned the game since its release date and I still haven't finished Battle-Zone, not because the gameplay is difficult or anything but b/c each level is so intricate and vast that I enjoy replaying the same level over again.

Someday, I'll muster up enough passion especially given what is happening today between Russia and USA to finish Battle-Zone.

:)

Another issue I forgot to mention, hadn't considered was that today I use the Logitech flight stick controller which didn't exist at the time Battle-Zone was released.
Had this controller been developed back then, I would have completed the missions much faster. Playing Battle-Zone on a traditional mouse & keyboard was NOT fun. Nearly 20 years later, playing Battle-Zone on the Logitech the way it was intended feels like as if the game was 'patched' that long, which it wasn't.

Battlezone has some brutal levels, without walkthroughs you'll be doing the levels over and over until you succeed. Especially on harder difficulties.

Don't know about joystick, it's designed for KB mouse and I love the config. For the RTS elements the game uses the number keys and Function Keys (and CTRL, SHIFT and ALT) variants, plus several other keys, so the WASD layout is default.

If you have a lot of buttons on your HOTAS setup then you might be golden.
