Can someone help me how to fix this problem? This only happens on part of campaign, the swamp stage against the wolf clan. Whenever this 1 particular building gets destroyed the game crashes. I can't get past this stage. Other than this the game runs smoothly.

Such errors leave only one solution- completely re-install the game, because it is broken. Of course export your save file before that process. ;)

Also, if you've ever modded the battlerealms.dat file, it may cause crashes like this.

My father has the same problem with a simple wolf hut, in the same mission.
It seems a bit unlikely for this to be the result of a randomly broken game, as then I'd expect to see this problem on more missions at least.
Edit: He's using the german version in Windows 10, and compatibility mode doesn't change the issue.

I've also run into the same problem in the swamp stage against the wolf clan. My game will crash after I destroy a particular building. I exported my saved file and completely reinstalled the game but the same error still occurs.

Are you sure you have GOG version?
BRJokerz play original last versions of BR / WOTW and there's no such problem. Might be a GOG issue, any details you can give us? Like is it english version or german, or french? That might influence too.
Try replacing battlerealms.dat by the clean one from HERE.

Ok I have solution. Use older computer , yesterday I finish this level on 5 years laptop.

The swamp wolf level is a fixed bug error of the game.

The only solution is to play the game by using a very old computer or simply bypass the swamp map by choosing the other two alternate levels.

Basically before this mission you were in the map selection scene.

There are 3 scenarios to choose:
The western swamp wolf which is the error crash
The center miner wolf
Or the eastern lotus plains

So just choose the center miner wolf or eastern lotus level and you should be able to continue the game.

And minor spoilers ahead, this will be the last stage where you can choose freely which scenario you would like to invade on the map. So there wont be any different ending if you choose any of the three (in fact after you finish any of the three, the game will continue on the exact same cutscene which will leads to a one big linear levels from this stage forward until ending which is a major war).

So basically you can just play the swamp map and as soon as the game crashes, run the game again but loads a save from any of the other nearly completed 2 alternates levels. You can just consider it as "mission accomplished" of the swamp map since they all lead to the exact same cutscene.

Thanks! I was stuck on that branch of the game. I solved it by installing it on a VMware Player Virtual Machine with Windows XP, and it worked. After two months of going back and forth with GOG Support, who were throwing very random ideas to the wall to see if one stuck, I was able to solve it like this.
