skymt: I got Incubation running on Windows 10 after staying up way too late last night. Here's how: GOG uses a library called for some games to play back music from .ogg files instead of CD audio. A change in Windows 10 [url=http://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_xwing_and_tie_fighter_series/working_with_windows_10]broke the library, and GOG hasn't shipped an updated version for Incubation. So I replaced its "sound.dll" with the "winmm.dll" from a GOG installation of Jedi Knight.

After that, it would display a black screen and immediately crash. That I fixed by running Incubation's GOG "Settings.exe" and switching from DirectX to 3Dfx mode, which uses the nGlide wrapper. Then I was able to launch the game and load into a mission without any apparent problems.
this will sound abit stupid but for those of us that dont have this game ... would you be able to upload this said file for the rest of us to download please ... this would help immensely

Right, my bad. I probably would have remembered to upload it when I posted if I hadn't stayed up late banging my head against this thing. Here's the DLL that works for me. Rename the existing sound.dll in your Incubation install to something else, drop this in its place, then run Settings.exe to switch to 3Dfx mode and you should be good to go. Just post if you have more problems or the file host doesn't work.

Thanks for this.
Incubation finally started working.
Just wanted to say that this worked for me, and I can now run Incubation on my Windows 10 with no problems. Thanks skymt!
Thx! Works fine with Win10 Anniversary Update :-)
At first the solution did not work. I had to execute the setting.exe as adiministrator. Now it runs perfectly. Thanks a lot!
Thanks, works here too.

Additional effect: via nglide_config.exe in the game's main folder you can set resolution, refresh rate and the splash logo on/off.

Makes the game look much better in 1600x1200 ;)
Thanks, that's a great solution!

By the way, I've used the DLL from Quake II, if it helps...

Thanks! I was unable to launch the game and this fixed it for me!
I'm having the same problem, I've downloaded the dll and replaced it and the settings etc but I'm still getting the same startup error. Any help would be appreciated - this was one of my favourite games
The replacement DLL works - however I've found that the in-game music stops looping after a while on Windows 10 x64.

Anyone figured out how to fix this? - I've tried using the latest winmm.dll, however the same issue occurs.
Changing sound.dll is working fine with Incubation but still cant start Wilderness Mission. Please help.
