Just like many people before, I have a problem with sound in Incubation. Sound effects (shooting, Scay'ger roars and other sounds) and mission introductions are present. But music and sound during cutscenes tend to disappear. When I launch the game, I can hear music in main menu, when I start a new game, sound usually is present during introduction animation. But when I load a saved game or (sometimes) start a new game, both disappear.
I had Daemon Tools installed, removing it (along with SPTD driver) didn't help. I've tested all compatibility modes - no effect (actually there was some kind of effect, when I set compatibility to Win NT 4.0 game complained about missing DirectX 5.0 and didn't launch). I've tried to switch 3D mode to 3dfx - game crashes at startup (updating nglide to 1.04 didn't help much, game crashes after choosing mission/cutscene, using other wrapper - "zeckensack's Glide wrapper" - fixed crashes thing but didn't change a thing in case of sound). Strange solutions like playing with DVD drive open didn't work either. Running game from administrator account didn't help.

So, any ideas?

Oh, yeah, I'm playing on FS Amilo Pi 3540 with Vista 32bit SP2
Having exactly the same issue.
Same problem as OP - no music and sound is missing from cutscenes.

Not having a cd/dvd in your drive, which is suggested as a solution, does not fix the issue, neither does running the game in the various compatibility-modes.

Running Windows 7 64-bit SP1.
I allways wait for a minute or so, before loading a savegame.. That helps getting the music from the main menue into the game. I´m glad, that worked on my system, because I love the Incubation soundtrack.

For the cutscene issue, I don´t have a clue. I´m pretty sure you tried everything.
@ Floid

Not as odd as playing with your drive-tray open, I suppose, but didn't work for me either.

After having perused several threads, I'm sure the sound-issues are tied to loading a saved game, as described here:

"The bug seems to be 99% connected to Incubation's infamous problems with its music playback. Whenever the game attempts to play the "City theme" while freshly restarted, it crashes. Sadly any attempts to disable music via the ingame options just don't seem to work (sound settings are reverted back to default each time the game is re-started).

I've managed to somewhat bypass this bug by renaming the game's "music" folder to i.e. "Xmusic" therefore breaking the filepath to the soundtrack.

Naturally, now the in-game soundtrack is fully disabled but at least the program itself works like a charm. Any "normal" sounds, like gunfire or level briefiengs are still there, and the background music themes can still be played in i.e. Winamp"

This precisely mirrors the problems I'm having. The game crashes when I try to load a game saved at the city-map, but not games that were saved during a mission. The above fix does away with the crashes, but it's annoying not to have the cutscene dialogues or in-game music.

Try the 'Win XP sp3' compatibility option in the shortcut?

I have lost music and voices from 3rd cutscenes (briefing at office with "blue women") - on the intro and first cutscens in game I heard the voices.. I haven't also music during exit from game (scores).

I read the post from other topic and change that sound.dll and now it works perfect.

I am using windows 7.

The post:

I got Incubation running on Windows 10 after staying up way too late last night. Here's how: GOG uses a library called for some games to play back music from .ogg files instead of CD audio. A change in Windows 10 broke the library, and GOG hasn't shipped an updated version for Incubation. So I replaced its "sound.dll" with the "winmm.dll" from a GOG installation of Jedi Knight.

After that, it would display a black screen and immediately crash. That I fixed by running Incubation's GOG "Settings.exe" and switching from DirectX to 3Dfx mode, which uses the nGlide wrapper. Then I was able to launch the game and load into a mission without any apparent problems.

from topic:
windows_10_cant_launch_the_game

the dll file is uploaded in one of post. It is also good to use it instead of audio.dll (of course copy it and change name)
Win 98 compatibility mode fixed it for me (Win 7 64 Bit). But seemed to create minor graphical glitches in the cutscene.
