I think I'll like it, but I need to get more into it first.

Not a big fan of the "tutorials" being nothing more than a few videos on youtube, but I've resigned myself to "learn as I go." Which means a pen and notepad, so in this early stage I'm not even "playing" the game, really, but just going through it a bit to take notes on what's what and try to get an understanding about how to do things.

I don't see a lot of talk about this game - not very popular? Not that being "popular" necessarily means anything, but this forum seems pretty lifeless.

It common situation in GOG subforums when game gets released here after it has been out on Steam for a long time. There is no discussion, because most of those who were interested in this game have already stopped playing it.

There are still some people streaming it and there is some activity in Steam forums, so it may be worth to check them, even if you own GOG version.

Makes sense. I never really pay attention to how long something has been on Steam or here.
It's possibly my age but I also don't really have much interest in youtube tutorials. Much prefer a good manual although Battle Bros doesn';t even seem to come with a bad manual. Couple of hours play and currently on my third restart. Apart from having to work it out as I go along there seems abig random element which probably doesn't help with learning the game.

There's a couple of useful hints and tips on steam although they seem quite situaltional.

Generally enjoying the game so far but the RNG seems to play a bigger part than I;d like.
The game's good but it also gets boring pretty fast because once you figured out how the game works, you already have seen most of it already and then you just repeat endlessly repeating missions until you die or beat the game.

And yes, Steam has more discussions. And you really need to read into that one guide on steam which is really good or else you will hardly have a chance surviving more than 30 days.
I'd agree with that. I've played a couple of hours more and I'm already wishing there was a bit more to the strategic side. I know its a tactical combat type of game but I find myself wanting to buy caravans and run them, invest in businesses and so on. Anything that gives me a bit more to do whilst I wander around trying to find a contract I can fulfill.

It's common problem with this kind of games (King's Bounty, Legends of Eisenwald). There is strategic map, but no strategic component, where you are governining, building and exploring stuff, so after some time the combat, while good by itself, becomes boring.
