Unfortunately I must say that on my windows 8 machine I frequently get the game to slow down suddenly. It feels like it's going into slow motion. It's still quite fast, but it feels very bad playing it. When I exit the game and restart it most of the times goes ok, but it happened already 3 times that I needed to quit my game.

I use the scrolling view.

Any other people having this? Or is it a windows 8 problem?

Count me in. Running Windows 7. Game is unbearably slow in scrolling mode.
Here as well... Slowing down on Win 7 32bit both modes.

I am now trying to launch the game with the original launcher. And am going to try an alternate launcher too. Maybe that fixes it.
I remember downloading 1.3 patch from the web page bellow some time ago, when I used to have Win XP and it was working great. I tried to use it now on Win 7 (32bit) and it's not slowing down at all, but it has strange colors. There is user patch available as well, but it is the same deal: no slowing down, but strange colors. http://www.3drealms.com/downloads.html
I would assume that it already incorporates 1.3, since all the table versions I see are 1.3?
Here is some more information.....

If I try to use the mouse to launch the ball and use the flippers the game plays smoothly. Except the left fliper with the left mouse button does not properly work. And then if I decide to play with the keyboard after using the mouse, the game slows down. I am imagining that GOG's wrapper is to make the game display properly with the addition of some other compatibiity features, but it seems to be hurting this game more then helping it.
Have you remapped the right shift key to the - key due to the sticky key bug? If so, please be aware that the launcher has the feature to adjust the game speed with the +/- keys. Delete bos.ini to return to the default speed and avoid pressing + or -.
@peterdk: I think it incorporates adjusted user patch by GOG. @hockeycanuck: the very same here.
Based on several games during several days, I have not encountered this lag in scrolling view anymore when launching the game from "bos.exe" instead of the GOG launcher.
Hey guys, I think i fixed the scrolling prob, what i did was change the thing in properties to bos.exe run the game exit go back to properties then change it back to launcher then run. its fixed!

The solution for me turned out to be quite easy. I have run the game in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode (WIN 7 32bit machine). No lag at all. :-)
Side question - does "single view" display the entire table at once, as a tall portrait, in the correct aspect?
