juliusborisov: We also want to highlight that there was no ban in the situation Stig79 mentioned. You can see it yourselves in forums.beamdog.com/discussion/52431/kind-of-a-big-plot-hole/, the OP hasn't been banned and they still keep posting on the forum.
Actually what you are saying isn't true. I have been banned for "trolling" on your forums, it seems. Have a look. I got banned for saying that SoD was poorly written etc.

https://forums.beamdog.com/profile/Rawgrim

Pretty much what Justice Spark said earlier in this thread. The mods just label people a troll or whatever, and get rid of them if they are being critical. Sure I may have been harsh but I wasn't trolling. I also got no warning whatsoever. I got a PPM saying I had been given 3 warning points for 1 post, and that was that. Gotten "Jailed" for it.

So....not being completely honest, are you?

Pretty much what I've been saying. Users confuse warnings and banishment. You have been warned, not banned, and this warning has nothing to do with things mentioned in this thread previously (as the warning was given on March, 27, 2017).

Here's what is written on your profile: "Hello there. You are being warned for 3 points for trolling here (forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comment/860462#Comment_860462). It is quite clear that this comment is just flame bait for the same old battle that has been discussed to death already. Rehashing it constantly (as you often do) serves no purpose besides trolling. Positive contributions to the forum and constructive criticism are always welcome, but this is neither. Make sure you read the site rules."

Nobody is getting rid of you.

Anyway, I believe it's impossible to make you, folks, believe in things the moderators say. You all are free to have your opinion and I hope that as time goes you will - maybe - change your point of view a bit.

That's bloody rich coming from a Beamdog forum moderator, and bloody rich given that since this whole debacle Beamdog has never once (to my knowledge) picked their collective heads out of the sand as said, "look people, we screwed up some. We're sorry, and we mean to do better in the future." Or something along those lines. If they did that, *and* they really meant it, I'd get behind them in a second. Trouble is, that takes integrity, which I don't think they know the meaning of.

Your words mean nothing.

This thread is about moderation, not Beamdog's decisions, but you keep mixing these things constantly.

About Beamdog decisions - actually, Trent Oster, on behalf of Beamdog, has done several times what you say Beamdog has never done.

Minsk line: "Ultimately, we received feedback from our community around the Minsc line and when we went back and reviewed it. The line just doesn't make the game better, it doesn't add to Minsc and it does in fact, detract from him. As such, the removal of the line was the only logical outcome.
I care about making our games better and I care about our community feedback."
forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comment/741551/#Comment_741551

Collector's Edition delays: "I'm sorry. I can understand your frustration as we are also very frustrated with all the delays. Simply put, we started down the path with the best intentions and we found a promising partner to help us execute and somewhere along the way the wheels kept falling off. Numerous delays, numerous changes in suppliers, poor quality prototypes, revised specifications and endless holidays interrupting the process in any countries. This has been a hard lesson in the complexity of producing multi-component Collector's Edition products.
My hope going forward is if we were ever to attempt this again we would have a clear idea of all the challenges and timelines."

UI fans' suggestions: "I like where this is going. Nice work."

SoD problems: "The Siege of Dragonspear launch was tough, no question. We launched with bugs, and ignoring the controversy around the launch, the product we shipped wasn't up to the quality standards we hoped to meet. Our patches since launch have improved the game greatly and we are much happier with Siege of Dragonspear today than we were at launch. Our key lesson from the experience is we need to take the proper amount of time and attention to ensure a high quality release.
To give us the time for our next project to meet our quality goals, we developed a new plan to ensure we can deliver products we will be very proud of. This plan is about optimizing our team for the next releases and and building strength in key areas where we can be a world leader. As part of this plan, we undertook a limited restructuring at Beamdog, parking some projects, laying off four staff and reducing some contractor expenditures. We've had to say goodbye to some good people, but by making some hard decisions now, we've engineered a scenario where we can take the time required to ensure we have a quality release for our next projects. On those next projects, at the core of our plan, we are empowering our leadership and developing top-notch narrative design, programming and art teams. We're already seeing some amazing results and we've excited to share our next projects with you. "

PST:EE is one of those projects, and you can clearly see it's a high quality release.

More about SoD problems: "We launched with some bugs and we've been digging through, finding and fixing them. With the early negative spin, we really backed down on our promotional efforts for the project. I think we felt guilty as there was legitimate concerns around real bugs which were getting lost in the hubbub and we didn't feel confident in the state of the project. We've found and fixed many of the bugs and we learned some key lessons on last minute UI revisions (bad). In the near future we're going to examine the promotional efforts around Siege of Dragonspear and see what we can do to drive more awareness."

Don't you come here from your cosy little hidey-hole and dictate what this, or any other, thread is about. This is not Beamdog, lapdog.

And nothing you posted (and learn to quote) is in the least bit relevant to an honest apology, it's all about "our games", "our community" **, "our delays", "our this", "our that". There is nothing in there that looks anything like an apology, only excuses.

** Beamdog community is not the Baldur's Gate community, it is only the Beamdog community.

I don't dictate anything. I've got an inquiry by a GoG user about about things mentioned in this thread and provided a reply from the moderation team. Then I answered questions in subsequent comments.

The level of negativity towards Beamdog and the amount of insults are both very high on this forum, but I try to reply in a respectful and constructive manner.

You all are free to come to the Beamdog forum, the cosy little hidey-hole as you call it, and state your business and express your views there. If you can do that without insulting other users, of course.

You try to: "This thread is about moderation, not Beamdog's decisions".

You're not a moderator here. You don't get to state what a thread is about or try to steer it in any direction.

The level of negativity towards Beamdog by the Baldur's Gate community is directly proportionate to that they deserve.

Insults? What insults? Grow up.

I've been there (Beamdog forum) and was hounded out. I will not go back under any circumstances.

Uhm yes it did have something to do with that. I got 3 warning points right off the bat, for 1 post. Because I had "repeated myself". And that somehow means I was trolling. I have had zero warnings in the past, and all of a sudden I get 3 warning points - for something I have said before. So it was ok to say it before but not a second or third time?

Sure they apologized later, when it turned out throwing the fans under the bus had backfired. But the damage was done, no? All those articles from gaming sites and whatever else had already been labeling BG fans as bigots for a month or more. Where were the articles that set things straight? The gamergate-card got played to score sympathy points and boost sales - hence why Oster also begged for positive reviews. If Beamdog wants to fix this mess they should do an interview and debunk the crap they did themselves and apologize to the fans. That would go a very long way.

If your next project is BG3 and it uses the 5th edition rules, you have giant plot-hole right off the bat by the way. Just a tip.

The negativity towards Beamdog is a result of Beamdog's actions. People didn't just wake up one day and collectively decide they don't like Beamdog for no reason.

Pop over to the Beamdog forum and state your views? Look at what the thread is about, man. People did do that. They got ganged up on by sycophants and then banned (sorry..."jailed") by the moderators for it. There is even a former moderator in this very thread that backs it up.

Spoken like a true Tyrant. This is exactly what this topic is about. What you see as insults, we see as fair criticism and freedom to do it. As long you are not able to understand that, you wont find what you are looking for here. I have been reading this topic from the start and observed how you tried to dominate others with "we are good guys, you just cant comprehend it" attitude. And this attitude is exactly why people dont like Beamdog. And although I bought each Beamdog game 10 times (9 times on GOG so i can gift and once each on Steam), I still see Beamdog as a consortium of arrogant people with lack of talent. Now, will you see that sentence as an insult or an observation?

I have read a few topics on Beamdog forums in the past without creating an account. My observation was, if someone makes a negative comment about the game, they get an instant ban. However, all the comments below, which openly insult the previous writer dont even get a warning. This is how Tyrants rule and I have no intention of joining a community so toxic to criticism.

EDIT: I forgot to write. If Beamdog one day makes a Tyrant Enhanced Edition, I am definitely going to buy it.

I should point out that the devs are very helpful if you have problems with getting the games to run and other technical issues. Credit where credit is due.

I've said several times already that the moderation team from the Beamdog forum is completely not against any fair criticism of the company and its products. I perfectly see the difference between that and insults to other posters. I think you didn't understand me - I meant insults of users, not insults of the company.

And when I wrote the part you quoted I meant what I see in gog.com/forum/general/release_planescape_torment_enhanced_edition_7fa05 and even in this thread:

"a ban happy slimebag
you lying fuck
This is not Beamdog, lapdog
The butthurt is strong in this thread
you're an ignorant putz
you show yourself to be a jagoff
Now its a cesspool of assholes"
etc etc

These are insults, not posts sharing negative opinions about the company's products and company's decisions. And on the Beamdog forum, the moderation team is working against this kind of posts.

It's a problem if many people think that the Beamdog community is toxic to criticism, the one the moderation team has already addressed and will continue to address in their everyday activity. And this will done combined with protecting and supporting rights of each user.
