If talk is cheap, then just give a chance and watch how it goes.
People gave you guys plenty of chances. But when a ton of people just get driven out of your forums by frothing fanboys when they voiced criticism, and the admins just watched and let it happen, you get threads like this.
People don't need to "watch how it goes" anymore. They have already seen how it goes. For a long time.
What you see as insults, we see as fair criticism and freedom to do it. As long you are not able to understand that, you wont find what you are looking for here.
I've said several times already that the moderation team from the Beamdog forum is completely not against any fair criticism of the company and its products. I perfectly see the difference between that and insults to other posters. I think you didn't understand me - I meant insults of users, not insults of the company.
And when I wrote the part you quoted I meant what I see in gog.com/forum/general/release_planescape_torment_enhanced_edition_7fa05 and even in this thread:
"a ban happy slimebag
you lying fuck
This is not Beamdog, lapdog
The butthurt is strong in this thread
you're an ignorant putz
you show yourself to be a jagoff
Now its a cesspool of assholes"
These are insults, not posts sharing negative opinions about the company's products and company's decisions. And on the Beamdog forum, the moderation team is working against this kind of posts.
It's a problem if many people think that the Beamdog community is toxic to criticism, the one the moderation team has already addressed and will continue to address in their everyday activity. And this will done combined with protecting and supporting rights of each user.
Congratulations. You found a genuine insult. If you read it you can see where the insult is coming from, though.
Actually it seems you are working more against such posts on the GoG forum, really. At the Beamdog forum, if a fan posted things like that against someone who was critical of SoD or something, and admin popped into the thread and told people to watch their language. Didn't ban the fanboy who did it. If a critic replied to an insult with an insult of his own, he\she got banned, though.
I got "jailed" because I had made the same argument 3-4 times - in a year. Even though the topic called for opinions. Do you "jail" people if they say SoD was brilliant 3-4 times in a year too? And how is it possible to get 3 warning points for 1 post? Where is the logic behind that one?
Yes it is a problem, for you, that people have noticed how toxic that forum is. If you are trying to make it better now, good for you. But it certainly wasn't handled well for a long long time. Fans got thrown under the bus if they had any criticism, and the sycophantic fanboys were allowed to attack them left and right with little or no consequences. That is technically a form of fascism, actually.
